Consultant Pathologist

The Role

Routine reporting of all Histo-Cytopathology specimens within Parkway Lab. Ensures the accuracy so as accuracy of examinations and analyses of surgical pathology specimens performed to assist physicians in making the correct diagnoses in patient. Be responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of frozen sections and rapid cytology examinations performed at the request of individual physicians or surgeons. Ensures that the Histopathology and cytology sections of PLS provide appropriate, timely and cost-effective testing to their customers. Provide working knowledge of all phases of laboratory work (technical, theoretical, practical) in any department. Participation in Clinico-Pathological meetings. Assist remaining Pathologists when one or more Pathologists are on leave to ensure an appropriate level of service is maintained. Participation in Quality Assurance Program procedures. Overseas the care of Laboratory instruments and promote judicious use of materials. Be responsible for the maintenance of records, stocking of supplies and for the organisation of work schedules of the Department. Help establish, keep and review records as needed within the Department. Be responsible for handling personnel problems arising within the Department and for optimising relationships of the Department with other departments within the Company or any of its Contractors and the medical staff. To be knowledgeable and actively involved in safety requirements of the laboratory, audit, accreditation and QC surveys undertaken by the Laboratory. Be instrumental in setting up new modalities and methods within the Department. Represent the Laboratories to the Medical staff and doctor clients of PLS, is a liaison to appropriate Medical Staff Committees relevant to PLS.

Qualifications & Experience

Recognition as qualified Medical Specialist in Histopathology/specialized training in Anatomical pathology/ Clinical Pathology.
