Job description

An Assistant Teacher at Odyssey provides theclassroom support needed to ensure that classes operate at an efficient andoptimal level. Assistant teachers may be assigned or attached to a class or maybe floaters who provide support to different groups of children at differenttimes of the day or deployed to a particular class for a period of time.

Interns undergoing training may serve as assistantteachers in the classroom, working under the guidance and supervision of theclass teachers.

Assistant Teacher has:

•Preferably, atleast a Certificate in Preschool Teaching or Fundamentals in Early Childhood Care and Education (accredited by ECDA)

•Good spokenEnglish and/or Chinese

•Stronginterpersonal skills, work with all levels of staff, professionals, parents andfamilies, and community partners from diverse nationalities and cultures

•Should have acaring and nurturing disposition, energetic and passionate about working withchildren.

Roles and responsibilities:

§Assists in routine care and transition activities

§Provides additional caregiving support to children in need of attention,especially during a new child’s initial adjustment period.

§Supports class teachers in the implementation of curriculum activitiesand events during the day.

§Supports and assists in the daily preparation, maintenance andhousekeeping of the classroom environment.

§Assists class teachers in the preparation of environments and teachingmaterials needed to support classroom lessons or events.

Adhereto operational functions and SOPs pertaining to children’s care and well-being tomet health, safety and nutrition and hygiene standards and expectations of theprogramme.
