MAIN PURPOSE

 

  • Research and Development of Packaging & Beauty Tools from design to production following Shiseido packaging development and quality standards working closely with marketing and operational stakeholders to deliver products to consumers on time and in good quality.
  • Search for packaging innovations and recycling systems to support our sustainability direction.
  • Analyse APAC packaging regulations, consumers’ perspectives, competitors’ activities and share within the group.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Package & Beauty tool development for internal development products

  • Develop primary packaging/beauty tool working closely with all stakeholders: marketing, designers, packaging suppliers, purchasing department, formulators and quality departments based on product brief
  • Schedule management: participate in all gate meetings. Ensure that launch schedule is met
  • Assess and guarantee packaging quality: evaluate materials, quality (function and structure), compatibility, decoration
  • When necessary, execute patent research
  • Co-create specifications with suppliers

Package development for outsourced product development

  • Work with third party beauty companies (OEM) packaging team to develop packaging: study their proposals, assess quality, get approval from Marketing and conduct patent checks when necessary
  • Suggest packaging or packaging suppliers to OEM companies if needed
  • Co-create packaging specifications with packaging suppliers or OEM packaging team
  • Follow all packaging development steps : data base completion, gate meetings, trials at supplier premises, decoration development etc
  • Conduct all quality tests for development and trial run and share results. Troubleshooting when necessary
  • Conduct quality tests when requested on key features of Korea Innovation Center prototypes
  • Share final packaging specification for quality control

Packaging innovation & sustainability

  • Share APAC competitors’ packaging related innovations with a main focus on sustainability with GIC (Global Innovation Center in Japan), RIC (Regional Innovation Centers) and Marketing teams upon opportunities
  • Explore innovative & sustainable packaging or sustainable activities which have a potential to be utilized by Shiseido. Assess and share the technologies.
  • Communicate with APAC area packaging suppliers to search and evaluate innovative / sustainable packaging

Manage Packaging lab

  • Manage packaging development lab and operations:
  • Conduct all packaging and compatibly quality tests testing following Shiseido protocols and report tests results
  • Ensure that equipment is well maintained, and SOP are updated

 

Packaging regulation and technical information

  • Monitor and understand packaging regulation addition or changes in Asia with support of the APAC Regulatory Affairs. Share regulations details to other packaging PIC and participate in the global packaging regulation group.
  • Support APIC technical information with Sustainable Packaging claims substantiation
  • Support RA with packaging EPR declarations

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma (at least 5 years of working experience on package in similar industry or FMCG)
  • Or Degree holder major in packaging, mechanical engineering or material science are welcome
  • Able to work in office and lab environment
  • Knowledge in Japanese or Korean language is an advantage
  • Some overseas travels may be required (OEM, Packaging suppliers, packaging exhibitions)
