Context
Hermès International Legal department is the center of legal expertise for the Hermès group. It deals with all areas of law (apart from tax law), with all the group entities (manufacturing and distribution) and in all countries of the world. It is organized by legal expertise, with departments or divisions each specializing in either a specific area of law (Corporate & Stock Exchange, Real Estate, Mergers & Acquisitions, Compliance including Data Protection, IP Portfolio Management and Anti-Counterfeiting), by activity with more general practice teams responsible for specific Business units and Retail, and by regional centers with legal teams in China, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and the United States.
The legal department is made up of over fifty people, the majority of whom are lawyers.
The Legal department based in Singapore supports 15 countries across South East Asia, India, South Korea, Australia and the Middle East, on all types of projects, such as retail (including consumer protection law, e-commerce), real estate, corporate, commercial, compliance, IP and general regulatory matters.
General Role
Supports the regional legal team (based in Singapore) and the global legal department (HQ in Paris), in ensuring the execution and compliance of all regional legal activities in the South Asia region (South East Asia, Oceania, India, South Korea) and compliance with Group global policies and procedures.
Main tasks:
cts and legal document management
Drafting and reviewing certain service contracts and general legal documentation (NDAs, LOIs, service provider agreements, concession agreements, communications agreements, real estate agreements etc) Management of existing contracts database – renewal/expiry dates of key contracts Template Management - Creating, managing and updating template contracts and legal documentation Drafting and updating policies and procedures Assisting local markets in the localization of Group documents2. Corporate secretarial
Assisting the Group and Regional legal teams in the organization of Board meetings and AGMs Preparation of draft Board & AGM resolutions Business license registrations and renewals Certification (notarization and legalization) of documents3. Compliance
Assisting Group and Regional legal teams to develop, adapt, roll out, update and promote data protection, anti-corruption/anti money laundering/ethical and general compliance policies, procedures and measures within the region, in line with Group policies.4. General legal support
Training – Assisting the Group and Regional legal teams in devising and conducting legal and compliance training Effectively liaise with external counsels in local markets, and provide day to day legal support to internal stakeholders and Group legal teamsQualifications & Capabilities:
Bachelor of Laws or equivalent from a reputable university is a must. At least 1 year practical legal experience in a law firm or in-house. Experience in Asia is a plus. Perfect command of English, both written and verbal, is mandatory. Must have a strong interest for Asian cultures. Must be a good team player, pleasant, intuitive, detail oriented, organized, responsive, proactive and self-motivated Excellent analytical skills, communication, soft skills, and adaptability to the different cultures of the region.
