As part of Oldendorff’s 30-strong global research team, this senior role will focus on providing the freight trading desks with insight and analysis of the supply and demand of the iron ore market. The successful candidate will work closely together with Oldendorff’s research team and its commercial desks to forecast and identify changes in trade flows covering the worldwide iron ore markets.

Essential Functions:

To provide the freight trading desks with insight and analysis of the supply and demand of iron ore & steel. Develop and maintain industry models and forecasts to support research & marketing activities. Assist the development of business and strategic activities through the provision of detailed insightful market analysis. Work closely with commercial desk & other members of the research team to assist in identification of trading opportunities. Assist with projects as required. Be commercially focused with a goal of maximising the company’s revenues through accurate and insightful research and advice.

Skill Requirements:

Minimum 5-8 years’ experience in commodities research with a solid contact network within the iron ore market. Excellent communication skills (English) are essential as is the ability to work to deadlines and work collaboratively. Analytical problem solving and technical skills Capability to see “the big picture” and to identify relevant information Excellent organisation and planning skills and the ability to manage workload
