The at the National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, invites qualified applicants to apply for the Assistant Professor / Associate Professor position in the area of English Language and Literacy Education (Primary level /Young learners), with a preference for candidates with research and teaching experience in multilingual settings. Requirements
Applicants should minimally satisfy the following criteria:
a PhD or EdD qualification in the area of English Language and Literacy education from a university of good international standing
an established track record of academic research, presentations, relevant publications in reputable peer-reviewed international journals in the area of English Language and Literacy at the primary level/for young learners and preferably within multilingual settings;
an established record of excellent teaching and supervision in relevant areas at undergraduate or graduate levels (preferably both); and
demonstrate academic leadership and service in their university and department, and in the profession.
Additional requirements for Associate Professor:
Excellent track record as an Assistant/Associate Professor in reputable universities;
An excellent record in securing and managing competitive grants, producing impactful research results, and engaging in innovative, collaborative research pursuits; and
Good international network of scholarly collaborators.
The following are preferred qualifications/experiences for the position:
Experience as an English language/literacy teacher in K-12 settings; and Experience as teacher or teacher educator in multilingual settings.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:
contribute to teaching and course development at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as related activities such as supervision of teaching practice, and thesis supervision and examination;
develop a robust research agenda and maintain a strong publication record;
undertake administrative and/or leadership roles and to contribute to other service-related activities at the department or institution level;
establish partnerships with local and international researchers and practitioners to explore avenues for research and teaching that will create an impact in the discipline and/or educational practice; and
(For Associate Professor level) mentor junior faculty members and serve in NIE / NTU committees, and offer professional services to schools, to the Singapore Ministry of Education, and to other public education-related organizations if requested.

Please note that shortlisted applicants will be first invited for an online interview. If selected to proceed to the next round, they will be invited for a campus visit where they will be expected to present a job talk, and to conduct a lesson in their area of expertise for our students at NIE.
