About the Department
The Data Management Office and Big Data Analytics function answers the demand for quality and credible data across the Group.
Data Management Office
We govern the use of data across the Group and provide guidance for data management and usage. This optimises the value of data to enable smarter, faster and more accurate decision-making as well as improve operational efficiency. Above all, we ensure adherence to all data governance standards as determined by regulators.
Big Data Analytics
We are a centralised analytics function that supports Group-wide business units and their analytical needs. We aim to establish ourselves as an analytics centre of excellence and drive analytics adoption and the utilisation of new big data technology across the Group. Our key areas of service range from business intelligence, strategic analytics to data science.
Job Responsibilities
The role will lead the Data Quality Management team, reporting into the Head of Enterprise Data Governance and Quality (EDGQ) in raising awareness of data governance and quality across key stakeholders, identifying and measuring data quality pain points and collaborating effectively to implement solutions in remediating data quality exceptions. Your main responsibilities are to:
Actively support bank-wide data governance strategy and enforcement of the data governance framework, policy and procedures in line with the Bank’s business objectives and evolving industry practices Actively lead and participate in cross-functional data quality initiatives, including the regions, to identify and resolve enterprise data quality challenges Lead a team of functional and technical data quality analysts in delivering enterprise-wide data quality solutions. Guide and mentor the team to be an engaged, high-performing unit Provide guidance and expertise in the understanding of business-data requirements, design of data quality checks, data profiling, root cause analysis and design of data quality measurement scorecards Collaborate with data producers and consumers across the Bank and look at innovative ways of identifying and quantifying data quality problems as well as ways of resolving data management issues over the data lifecycle, in Singapore and the region Where possible, apply innovative methods such as data science techniques, machine learning or other statistical means to proactively manage data quality risks Perform periodic reporting on data quality issues and remediation plans to Management Committees and senior stakeholders from the business units Work closely with the other EDGQ units as well as key stakeholders across the Bank, in developing data quality monitoring, measurement and remediation solutions Understand the end-to-end data landscape, including systems, business processes and data flows to support data governance reviews and assessments; develop and enhance supporting documentation Be an agent of change and inculcate data governance culture and discipline across the Bank’s business and technical processes as well as across diverse stakeholders
Job Requirements
Background of data governance, data management, data quality, technology, or business operations, with at least 12 years of working experience in the banking industry or equivalent, or consulting experience with strong exposure to Financial Services Good understanding of banking products and processes from an operational, business and data standpoint Possesses an understanding of how data is captured, stored, integrated (and flows) through applications/databases and consumed by end users Good experience of working with Big Data platforms, ETL tools and/or data quality technologies. Exposure to Informatica product will be an advantage Highly skilled in creative problem solving, comfortable with handling ambiguous situations and navigating conflicts with ease Advanced project management, interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders across the Bank Excellent written/oral communication as well as presentation skills Demonstrated ability in spearheading complex bank-wide initiatives, as well as working with regional stakeholders-
