Position Description:
We are seeking an experienced Workday Financials Techno-Functional Consultant with over 10 years of Workday experience across Workday Financials design, configuration, implementation, integration, and support. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of Financials functional knowledge across Workday modules and technical proficiency in Workday integration tools, and will be able to independently manage end-to-end project delivery — from requirements gathering and solution design through build, testing, deployment, and post-production support. This role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, Finance and Procurement teams, and technical teams to translate business requirements into scalable Workday Financials solutions and robust integrations with upstream and downstream systems.

Essential Responsibilities:

Workday Financials Techno-Functional Consultant will act as a bridge between business/finance teams and the technical implementation team, and will be expected to:
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for Workday Financials modules and associated integrations with banks, ERP, tax, procurement, and other third-party systems.
  • Lead or support Workday Financials implementation, migration, upgrade, and enhancement projects.
  • Own the technical design and delivery of Workday Financials integrations, reports, and custom configurations.
  • Provide production support, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis for Workday Financials and integration-related issues.
  • Mentor junior consultants and review deliverables for quality and compliance with best practices.
  • Gather, analyze, and document finance and procurement business requirements from business stakeholders.
  • Design, configure, and maintain the Financial Data Model (FDM), including worktags, accounting rules, ledgers, companies, and the chart of accounts structure.
  • Configure and maintain Workday Financials business processes, security groups, financial organizations (companies, cost centers, and hierarchies), calculated fields, and approval workflows.
  • Design and develop Workday integrations using tools such as Workday Studio, EIB (Enterprise Interface Builder), Core Connectors, Document Transformation, and Workday Web Services (SOAP/REST) — including journal, supplier invoice, expense, payment, and bank statement interfaces.
  • Build and maintain custom reports using Workday Report Writer, Advanced Reports, Matrix Reports, Composite Reports, and RaaS (Report as a Service), including financial and operational reporting.
  • Support data conversion and migration activities for Financials objects such as suppliers, customers, open invoices, assets, balances, and journal history, using EIB and related load tools.
  • Translate functional specifications into technical design documents (TDD) and configuration workbooks.
  • Perform end-to-end testing including unit testing, integration testing, parallel/period-end testing, UAT support, and defect resolution.
  • Support Workday releases (bi-annual updates) — assess impact on Financials configuration and integrations, regression test, and communicate changes to stakeholders.
  • Prepare and maintain functional/technical documentation, runbooks, and knowledge transfer artifacts.
  • Provide L2/L3 production support, including month-end and year-end close support, ensuring SLAs are met for incident and service request resolution.
  • Participate in client status calls, steering committee updates, and project governance activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of Workday experience, with significant hands-on experience in Workday Financials
  • Strong functional expertise in one or more Workday Financials modules: General Ledger and Accounting Center, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable/Customer Accounts, Banking and Settlement, Expenses, Procurement, Assets, Projects, Cash Management, or Budgets, along with a solid understanding of the Financial Data Model (FDM).
  • Hands-on technical experience with Workday integration tools: Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Document Transformation, and Workday Web Services/API.
  • Experience building Financials integrations such as bank payment and statement files, journal and supplier invoice loads, expense feeds, tax engine and procurement system interfaces, and GL/ERP data exchanges.
  • Proficiency in Workday Report Writer, Calculated Fields, Custom Reports, and RaaS.
  • Strong understanding of Workday security model (domain and business process security policies, security groups), including segregation-of-duties considerations for Financials.
  • Experience with Workday Business Process configuration and workflow design.
  • Working knowledge of XML, XSLT, Web Services (SOAP/REST), and API-based integrations.
  • Excellent client-facing communication skills, with ability to interact directly with business and technical stakeholders.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Workday certification(s) in Financials, Integrations, Studio, Expenses, or Procurement
  • Experience with Workday Extend for building custom applications.
  • Experience in integrating Workday Financials with third-party systems (banks, tax engines, ERP, procurement, and treasury platforms)
  • Exposure to Workday Prism Analytics, Adaptive Planning, or Accounting Center.
  • Finance or accounting background (CA/CPA/MBA Finance or equivalent) or experience supporting financial close and reporting cycles.

Desired Characteristics:
  • Proven track record of working in a cross functional and virtual teams
  • Broad technical understanding and ability to learn fast
  • Strong team player with interpersonal, influencing and team building skills, and proven ability to work in a matrix environment
