The Contracts Operations team is responsible for managing the entire contracts process, including the provision of pre-deal and post deal commercial advice, contract drafting, internal authorization and dispatch of contracts/contract responses, records management, and value-driven commercial advice to the business when negotiating complex contractual arrangements.The Senior Contracts Advisor - LNG is a member of the Contracts Operations team, reporting to the Contracts Team Lead LNG, and is responsible for supporting the LNG trading and supply desks by drafting and negotiating complex contracts for LNG and some of the related documentation for such contracts.What you'll be doingProvide pre-deal and post-deal commercial advice to traders with respect to the commercial, contractual, and financial risks associated with their business, identifying areas where there are opportunities for value creation as well as areas where the exposure to value leakage existsDraft and negotiate complex / bespoke contracts/agreements that are fit for purposeFor complex / bespoke deals, authorize outgoing contracts and responses to incoming contracts before dispatch to the counterpartyNegotiate complex contractual arrangements/framework contracts/storage agreements/tenders, etc.Ensure compliance with CARF, SECO, and Shell's Control Framework, generally, protecting Shell's license to operate by ensuring/verifying that all contracts comply with all local implementation policies, manual of authorities, business controls, Shell Group policy and standards as well as meeting all regulatory and regulated market requirementsProvide advice and help in resolving complex contractual disputes with counterparties, liaising with corporate legal counsel, as necessaryMaintain an awareness of any new trade opportunities and regulatory restrictions that may involve changes to existing procedures or support processesPrepare and negotiate ad hoc agreements needed to facilitate new business and structured transactionsAssist in maintaining a contract and clause database, as well as manage an efficient status reporting mechanism.Assist in refining/revising current contracts processes in line with those of other functions (e.g., Settlements) to reduce profit leakage and ensure optimal efficiencyWhat you bringAssist in refining/revising current contracts processes in line with those of other functions (e.g., Settlements) to reduce profit leakage and ensure optimal efficiencyMinimum of 3 years' experience in similar positions (energy/commodity trading or shipping environment in a commercial, operational, legal, paralegal or contract administration role)Advanced knowledge of internal contractual requirements including, but not limited to, CARF, SECO, insurance requirements and trade compliance regulationsStrong commercial mindsetEffective negotiating skills and capable of managing the expectations of various stakeholders to a contractFlexible approach and be commercially orientated with the ability to work independently as well as part of a teamAbility to prioritize workload while adhering to tight deadlinesMeticulous with a keen eye for detail and highly organizedComfortable working in a fast-paced and challenging environmentGood interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers/stakeholdersWhere relevant, local language requirements may applyWhat we offerYou bring your skills and experience to Shell and in return you work with talented, committed people on one of the most important challenges facing our planet.
