Job Details:
Responsible for the provision of observation and analytical support to Exercise Commanders and Trainers during military exercises. The Analyst Training is the principal interface with Army Observers/ Trainers on military exercises for the dissemination of simulation information relating to military tactical manoeuvre. The Analyst Training is also the primary resource for provision of observation and analytical support to military personnel in the operation and maintenance of simulation training equipment.
This role will spend significant time deployed in the field environment. This position works under general supervision.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deployed at the Exercise Control Center to monitor, provide insights/ observations and data analysis to facilitate debrief during Before Action Review (BAR), During Action Review (DAR) and Post Action Review (PAR). The key observations are to be collated by the Analyst into a Take Home Package (THP) for the units’ self-review.
- Utilize the Army’s Action Learning Process (APL) as the framework to guide the preparation of necessary collation and analysis effort to facilitate learning before, during and after the exercise.
- During exercise preparation the Analyst Training is responsible to coordinate with the conducting units to develop performance indicators and checklists for the Analysts to perform their tasks during exercise.
- Prior to the exercise the analyst is responsible to:
- Understand the Exercise Design: Participate in the unit’s Order Group, Exercise High Control and Final Co-ordinating conference. Based on participating at these meetings the Analyst Training is responsible to understand the operation plan to develop the Collection and Analysis Plan.
- Understand the Commander’s Emphasis: Engage with the Unit Commander to identify the focus areas for performance and learning.
- Development of Collection Plan: Develop a Collection Plan for approval with the Unit Commander/ Exercise HQ.
- Formation of Performance Measurements: Based on the exercise objectives and desired leaning outcomes, the Analyst will formulate the Performance Measurement parameters.
- Assists with the issue and receipt of any equipment provided to the customer before, during and after the exercise.
- Conduct operator maintenance and function check the Mission System.
- Assists in the setup of the Exercise Control Centre (ECC), accommodation and After-Action Review (AAR) facilities.
- Conducts pre-exercise training of exercise participants.
- During the Exercise, the Analyst Training is responsible to:
- Operates an analysis station(s) within the Exercise Control Centre for each exercise.
- Observe and analyse exercise tactical events in conjunction with Army Observers/ Trainers to facilitate the production of multimedia product for After Action Reviews (AAR).
- Coordinate with the observer/ controller on the ground and record actions or events that may be of interest for AAR.
- Ensure that key events and outcomes are captured by maintaining real-time monitor of the exercise displays and tactical radio communications.
- Record lessons gleaned from the exercise for the purpose of DAR and PAR which include observations, insights, and ‘so what’ analysis.
- After completion on each phase of the exercise, the Analyst Training will support facilitation of the DAR to include playback of exercise scenarios and compile and summarize exercise results. The includes qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis, and preparation of the Take Home Package (THP).
- Assists Unit to determine compliance and refinement to their Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Assists the Engineer Systems with the rationalization and refinement of SOPs relating to their functional area.
- Assists in the setup and pack-up of equipment for training exercises
- Operate support vehicles as required.
General Duties and Responsibilities:

- Comply with security in accordance with established policies and procedures of the organization.
- Comply with Cubic Human Resources Procedures.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Skills/ Experience/ Knowledge
- Eligibility to obtain and hold a SAF MSD security clearance.
- Understands the environment and terminology utilized by SAF, specifically in large force exercises at the Battalion and above
