Wsh Coordinator

**Statement of Purpose **_(Overall Purpose of Job)
- **:For the purposes of section 28(1) of the WSH (Construction) Act, a workplace safety and health coordinator shall be appointed in respect of every worksite where the contract sum of the building operation or works of engineering construction carried out therein is less than $10 million.

**Major Duties & Responsibilities**
**(A) Specific**:

- Have an understanding of the Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Policies and responsibilities of each grade of personnel. Ensure the policy is brought to the attention of all the employees under your control and ensure that work is carried out in accordance with its requirements.
- Review and update the company safety policy and other related duties implemented by the relevant authorities.
- Liaison with sub-contractors with respect to environmental, health and safety works undertaken by them.
- Monitor and conduct site safety orientation, daily toolbox meetings and minutes of meeting properly documented,
- Asset to WSH manager, WSH Officers to investigate every Incident / Accident.
- Identify WSH hazards, Implement control measures, conduct safety inspection and safety committee meeting.
- Review safety management system and recommendations for improvement of safety and act as Secretary of the WSH committee,
- Conduct monthly safety training programme and emergency excavation plan.
- Carry out site safety, health and environment programmes and procedures.
- Assist the Safety Manager, Workplace Safety and Health Officer and Environmental Control Officer in all safety, health & environment matters.
- Checking sub-contractors work to ensure compliance with the WSH (Construction) Regulations.
- Coordinates and assures compliance with the Risk Assessment Program.
- Ensure that issuance of personal protective equipment is properly recorded and documented.
- Maintain required Safety and Health documents or files.
- Prepare monthly safety report.

**(B) General**:

- Ensure that all rules and regulations as stipulated in the WSH (Construction) Regulations are met.
- Ensure that all statutory regulations, company’s safety regulations and code of practice are implemented and complied with by all staff.
- Conduct regular inspection and audits on the safety provisions and Inspect and rectifying any unsafe place of work and unsafe practices **.**:

***(C) Safety**:

- To follow the safety procedures, rules and regulation and eliminate or reduce hazard at the work place.
- To identify hazards and implement effective risk control measures.
- To make sure the work environment is safe.
- To make sure adequate safety measures are taken for any machinery, equipment, plant, article or process used at the workplace.
- To make sure systems for dealing with emergencies is in order.
- Ensure sufficient instruction, training and supervision is provided to work safely.
- Follow the workplace safety and health system, safe work procedures or safety rules implemented at the workplace.
- Not to engage in any unsafe or negligent act that may endanger yourself or others working around you.
- Use personal protective equipment provided to you to ensure your safety while working.
- Do not tamper with or misuse any equipment.

**Job Requirements**
**(A) **Education, Qualifications & Special Training**:

- Possess valid BCSS.
- Possess valid WSQ Advanced Certificate in WSH.
- Possess valid WAH Assessor or Managing WAH.

**(B) Knowledge & Skills**:

- Compute Knowledge (MSWord, MSXL, MS Power Point)
- Good communication skills

**(C) Experience**:

- Relevant experience in WSH Coordinator for a period of not less than one year before the appointment as a WSH Coordinator.
