Engineering Specialist

Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics and Mathematics or
related discipline.
Experience: Five (5) years of work experience in telecommunication and networking or systems engineering

**Infrastructure Operations at FedEx**

This role will be part of APAC Infrastructure Operations team at FedEx, focusing exceptionally on Operational Excellence. You will join a team of highly talented engineers demonstrating tactical operations with your exceptional knowledge and firsthand technical experience on pro-active infrastructure optimization within a high-performance distributed systems environment. You will be closely associated with cross-functional Business and Systems Engineering team(s) delivering the best for Operations, Development, Maintenance & Disaster Recovery Infrastructure. This role comes with on-call responsibility. You should be able to manage a crisis working with the broader team, communicating progress and challenges during the crisis.

**Responsibilities**
- Manage Datacentre resources - _Power/Racking/Distribution/Cabling/Risk management with Colo vendor/Physical layout_
- Hands-on experience in coordinating and performing physical Infrastructure installations for projects and business-as-usual installations. Co-ordination effort includes vendor support.
- Conduct Reviews/Audits of physical installations and racking/cabling aligned with Colo Datacentre
- Review and assess the Lifecycle Management for all equipment/system, business continuance and service restoration strategies
- Assist in compliance and audit activities for enforcement of policies, standards, and procedures
- Involve and handle major maintenance, migrations, disaster recovery
- Optimize processes and procedures where needed and leverage automation
- Monitor the cloud resource usage as well as the consumption from the cost perspective
- Virtualization and Containerization with hybrid deployment _(VMware, Azure and AWS)_
- Preparation and assistance with technical proposals
- Preparation and update documentation holistically covering all aspects of Infrastructure Operations
- On-call emergency availability in the event of environment failure

**Requirements**:

- ** Min 10 years** hands-on and proven competency in technologies - Windows, Linux/VMware/Hyper-V systems_, Data Centre_
- Familiarity with Hardware racking, powering and cabling common Datacentre devices including Network, Server, SAN & Security
- Understanding of various cabling standards including copper, fibre etc
- Experience in Networking including LAN/WAN, Firewalls, wireless connectivity, and Security
- Knowledge on best practices within Datacentre standards
- Demonstrated ability to work within Datacentre for both infrastructure installations and troubleshooting efforts
- ** Good to have experience/knowledge**: Datacentre security and facilities standards like ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO27001
- Technical experience and good knowledge with Splunk/CloudWatch/Elasticsearch/Grafana
- English fluency to effectively communicate and set the stage for presentations
