**_Job Description _**:

- Routledge (part of the Taylor and Francis Group) is looking for a Commissioning Editor to help grow our portfolio of research volumes and textbooks in Social Sciences/Asian Studies - covering politics/IR, sociology, history, linguistics, and media studies. _
- The Editor will commission new titles from authors based in the Asia Pacific region to help expand our academic book publishing programme. _

**_What you'll be doing: _**
- _Your job responsibilities may include the following but not limited to: _
- _In consultation with the Senior Publisher, meet demanding annual commissioning and revenue goals, commissioning new research monographs, handbooks and textbooks that respond to current market and research needs. _
- _Meet annual frontlist plans, working closely with an editorial assistant to ensure that manuscript submission, production, and publishing deadlines are met. _
- _Extensive research of the Social Science/Asian Studies markets through virtual and in-person campus calling and conference attendance throughout Asia Pacific. _
- _Close liaison with authors, series editors, as well as internal colleagues in editorial, production, marketing, and sales. _

**_Qualifications _**:
**_What we're looking for: _**
- _Degree level or equivalent professional qualification preferred. _
- _Experience working in academic publishing in an editorial role; book commissioning experience would be an advantage. _
- _Ability to organise and prioritise numerous tasks and to work on your own initiative. _
- _Excellent team-working skills to deal with internal and external contacts at all levels. _
- _Ability to work with demanding stakeholders in a diplomatic and assertive manner. _
- _A resourceful and proactive attitude in dealing with problems and queries. _
- _Good publishing business awareness and the ability to learn quickly. _
- _Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with a sharp eye for detail. _
- _Strong word processing, spreadsheet, and database skills. _
- _A background in Social Sciences is not necessary but would be an advantage. _
