**Position Overview**

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Locum Play Therapist to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will utilize play therapy techniques to support children in expressing themselves, processing their emotions, and developing coping strategies in a safe and nurturing environment. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children with diverse needs.

**Key Responsibilities**

1) Conduct assessments to identify the emotional and behavioral needs of children, creating individualized play therapy plans tailored to each child.

2) Implement play therapy techniques to facilitate emotional expression, social skills development, and problem-solving in children.

3) Create a safe and welcoming therapeutic space that encourages children to explore their feelings and experiences through play.

4) Collaborate with families and caregivers, providing guidance and support to reinforce therapeutic strategies at home.

5) Monitor and document children's progress, adjusting therapy approaches as needed based on observations and feedback.

6) Work closely with multidisciplinary team members to ensure a holistic approach to each child's development.

7) Educate parents and staff about the benefits of play therapy and the role of play in children's emotional and social development.

8) Stay current with developments in play therapy practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of services offered at the Centre.

**Preferred Qualifications**

1) A degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field, with relevant certification in Play Therapy.

2) Proven experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental challenges.

4) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to engage and build rapport with children and their families.

5) Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and adapt to varying therapeutic environments.

6) A passion for enhancing the emotional well-being of children and their families through play-based interventions.
