GDMC is expanding our R&D team and is seeking an exceptional Synthetic Biologist. As a synthetic biologist in the R&D team, you will evaluate and design tools to craft or improve manufacturing design of next generation therapies. You will also be exposed to various client partners and collaborate with them to design the next generation therapeutics for manufacturability. **Responsibilities**
- Design, build, and optimise novel next generation therapies (cell, nucleic acid, and viral vector) using state of the art strategies as well as design new approaches as needed.
- Engage collaboratively with the client to assess and improve the manufacturability of therapeutic modalities.
- Oversee and mentor laboratory technicians and interns in proper laboratory techniques and scientific experimental design.
- Filing of invention disclosures and basic understanding of intellectual property with the assistance of relevant internal and external parties/stakeholders.
- Create genetic tools in microbial hosts and manipulate microbial hosts as necessary.
- Create eukaryotic hosts as necessary and viral hosts and test them with design genetic tools as necessary.
- Drive innovation through the design and troubleshooting of experiments for testing various unit operations in process development in accordance with clients need and company's overall strategic goals.

**Requirements**:

- PhD in synthetic biology or equivalent with 3-5 years of laboratory research experience.
- 1-5 years of work experience within synthetic biology or equivalent.
- Knowledge of and experience with molecular biology and/or synthetic biology experimental approaches.
- Innovative and analytical thinker with outstanding interpersonal, communication, and leadership skill.
- Demonstrated proficiency with common software packages (using Benchling, Snapgene, GENEious, or equivalent).
- Demonstrable rudimentary EDA and statistical analysis proficiency (using Prism or R or equivalent).
- Work authorization in Singapore.
