**R&D Engineer - Controls & Optimization**:

As an R&D Engineer for Controls & Optimization, you will be responsible for identifying, proposing, and implementing innovative technology, software and/or solutions by contributing with own ideas. Working independently as a member of an R&D team. Reporting to Technology Center Manager, you will have a desire to work in a global, dynamic, and challenging environment and will be highly rewarded from both a career and remuneration perspective. Opportunities will be available to develop their career in the future. The position is based in Singapore.

**Your responsibilities**:

- Responsible for identification, development, and implementation of advanced process control (APC) and Optimization strategies and solutions that will help improve quality and maximize productivity for paper customers
- Development of proof of concepts, prototypes, and support in pilot evaluation and productization of solutions
- Data exploration, pre-processing, analysis, and modeling of linear/non-linear systems for APC project implementation for paper machines
- Working with Product Managers to define scope, features and estimates for new projects
- Working directly on development tasks; provide technical leadership; coordinating with other resources and create high quality products within the defined schedules and budgets
- Planning project activities with local and remote teams

**Your background**:

- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s in an Engineering discipline
- Around 4 to 6 years of industrial experience in design and implementation of process control systems, preferably associated with the paper and pulp processes
- Proficient in Control Theory & Optimization (Linear/NL/Optimization algorithms)
- Hands-on experience with programming languages/ tools e.g., Python, R, MATLAB, OpenModelica/Dymola platform, preferably interacting with industrial process data
- Conversant with PLCs/DCS and IEC 61131 and PC-based software development (.NET C# preferred)
