Medical Science Liaison

**The Position**:
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) role is to support the strategic scientific direction of Boehringer Ingelheim with the provision of clinical and scientific information/data to health professionals via scientific exchanges/presentations, primarily with defined External Experts (EEs). These exchanges will provide the necessary background for health professionals to make good sound clinical decisions in the treatment of their patients and allow the MSL to gain understanding of current treatment and management of patients locally.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:
**External Expert (EE) interaction**
- Identify and validate new and existing EEs for inclusion in the EE Management Plan and execute EE development plans to build advocacy for Boehringer Ingelheim.
- Engage with EE through credible and precise medical and scientific information exchanges, ensuring proper documentation of these interactions.
- Convey expert clinical knowledge in various settings including face-to-face meetings and scientific events
- Obtain contribution from EEs through participation of EEs in speaking engagements, advisory boards etc
- Engage EEs via various platforms including speaking engagements, and advisory board meetings aligned with our brand scientific objectives.

**Building brand awareness**
- Support healthcare professionals (HCP) in delivering optimal medical care by promoting awareness, advocacy, and the appropriate use of therapeutic solutions.
- Develop innovative solutions to address the unmet medical needs of healthcare professionals, in collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Assist HCPs in implementing diagnostic and disease management related guidelines and/or consensus.

**Scientific knowledge dissemination**
- Engage with EE through credible and precise medical and scientific information exchanges, ensuring proper documentation of these interactions.
- Address medical information inquiries.
- Participate in scientific congresses such as medical congresses and running medical booths.
- Stay informed with the latest data and publications relevant to the therapeutic area (TA) to effectively engage and share insights with HCPs.
- Deliver scientific expertise on product and disease state through scientific presentations

**Cross functional sharing and support**
- Actively provide strategic and operational support to the commercial team to ensure effective brand planning and execution that would support customers and patient’s needs.
- Continuously enhance knowledge of the brand, competitors, disease states, and overall therapeutic areas.
- Convey insights and perspectives from healthcare professionals to the brand team to enhance the effectiveness of the medico-marketing plan.
- Assist clinical operation teams to identify and suggest potential sites and investigators for Boehringer Ingelheim clinical trials.
- Provide product related training for new hires.
- Deliver comprehensive scientific knowledge support to the field force team, empowering them to effectively communicate and address the needs of healthcare professionals.
- Providing support and active collaboration with other divisions including Market Access and Regulatory Affairs.

- Perform all company business in accordance with all regulations and Company policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate highest ethical and professional standards in all business interactions to preserve and enhance Boehringer Ingelheim’s esteemed reputation.

**Research collaboration**
- Identify opportunities for potential external research collaboration.
- Facilitate and support interactions between BOEHRINGER INGELHEIM and external investigators concerning investigator-initiated studies.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelors in science, PhD in Science, Doctor of Medicine, or Pharmacist
- Preferably experienced in the MSL role and / or in pharmaceutical industry
- Good command of the English language
- Ability to analyze, interpret, synthesize, and clearly communicate medical data.
- Ability to do public speaking and presentations, both for large audience and 1-1 setting
- Independent and proactive, highly creative, and innovative
- People person, with good networking skills
- Excellent team player
- Good understanding of local laws and regulation
