Assistant Professor, Global Health Evaluation
1 week ago
The **SingHealth Duke-NUS Global Health Institute** (**SDGHI**) was launched in September 2018 as a joint institute under the AMC with a vision to advance health and well-being in Southeast Asia and beyond.** **The **goals** are to (1) improve health outcomes, (2) increase health security, and (3) strengthen health systems through partnerships with countries across the region.
SDGHI is organised around five programmatic areas (or Cores) - Policy, Research, Education, Innovation and Clinical Cores, to advance Global Health research and teaching efforts. Partnerships across 14 countries throughout Asia have been established, through which these Cores foster greater coherence and alignment of global health activities; act as a coordinating mechanism for partnerships with national, regional and global actors; and facilitate new areas of work that respond to pressing global health priorities.
Given the diversity and complexity of health systems across Asia, global health evaluation has emerged as a cross-cutting priority area for advancing SDGHI’s agenda. This includes tools and methods to unpack whether novel innovations, interventions or models of care ‘work’; how they work; and what systems-enablers are required to facilitate adoption and scale. Perspectives from implementation science are crucial to illuminate how to embed evidence-based interventions into policy and practice.
SDGHI is recruiting an Assistant/Associate Professor of Global Health Evaluation to contribute towards robust assessments of its global health efforts. The incumbent will support the following objectives:
- Designing robust and pragmatic evaluation frameworks that can be applied to programmes developed through SDGHI and its partner institutions across the Asian region.
- Conducting appropriate assessments of SDGHI-supported innovations, interventions and programmes by employing the most up-to-date scientific thinking, tools and methods including implementation science and digital health (big-data, patient-centred monitoring, artificial intelligence, etc)
- Support to capacity development efforts for global health evaluation both in Singapore and with regional partners in Asia
This position will be embedded within a wider Global Health Evaluation Unit, which will be integrated with and supported by established initiatives within the AMC including the SingHealth Centre for Population Health Research and Implementation; the SingHealth International Collaboration Office; the Duke-NUS Health Services and Systems Research program; and the Academic Medical Centre Innovation Institute’s Impact Assessment Unit.
**Qualifications**:
- A medical degree with Masters-level and/or a PhD or equivalent in a global health, epidemiology, evaluation science or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of statistical analysis with competency using software packages (SPSS, Stata, R, etc).
- Evidence of mentoring research staff/students to develop their analytical and statistical expertise.
- Track record of conducting high-quality operational research with scientific contribution to peer-reviewed publications in health evaluation.
- Experience in supporting capacity development efforts with governments and academic institutions would be an asset.
- The ability to work flexibly, independently and mobilise resources.
- A strong desire to advance global health capacity in the Asian region.
