[What the role is]
About EDB
The Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), a government agency under the Ministry of Trade and Industry, is responsible for strategies that enhance Singapore’s position as a global centre for business, innovation and talent. We undertake investment promotion and industry development, and work with international businesses, both foreign and local, by providing information, connection to partners and access to government incentives for their investments. Our mission is to create sustainable economic growth, with vibrant business and good job opportunities for Singapore.

About Innovation Economy (IE) division
The Innovation Economy division in EDB charts the agency’s vision towards an innovation-led economy and develops the R&D and innovation strategies for foreign companies to create new products, services and businesses in Singapore. To achieve this, we develop and execute national and ecosystem-level strategies to bolster Singapore’s position as a globally leading innovation destination for foreign companies. We are also responsible for uncovering and incubating new industry sectors with mid to long term economic opportunities for Singapore.

[What you will be working on]

Job Responsibilities

[Strategy Development]

Develop and co-create solutions to strengthen Singapore as an innovation economy:

- Identify, through research and stakeholder engagement, potential gaps in Singapore’s innovation ecosystem (e.g. partnerships, intellectual property, etc.)
- Analyse and synthesise findings to recommend solutions
- Develop value propositions in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. industry groups in EDB, other government agencies and industry partners)

[Planning and Data Analysis]

Review, refine and develop Singapore’s overall strategy in innovation:

- Analyse project data to define EDB’s contributions to innovation and characterise industry/ company needs
- Measure outcomes of our R&D and innovation policies and map Singapore’s strengths in innovation

Note that this is an individual contributor role. You may also need to perform secretariat duties and support agenda setting for inter-agency platforms.

[What we are looking for]

Requirements
- At least 3 years of relevant working experience in design thinking, strategy/ product development, innovation, IP/ technology commercialisation, corporate planning and/ or policy analysis.
- Skillset in quantitative data analysis (e.g. Excel, Tableau, Python etc.) will be a plus.
- Passionate about playing a role to develop levers to strengthen Singapore’s innovation economy
- Keen sense of business acumen with strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills
- Resourceful with a self-starter mindset and strong ability to develop and execute ideas and initiatives
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and adept at engaging a range of internal and external stakeholders across seniority levels
- Strong team player in an agile environment who is versatile and open to learn, explore and experiment
