Wilmar International business activities include oil palm cultivation, edible oils refining, oilseeds crushing, consumer pack edible oils processing and merchandising, specialty fats, oleochemicals, and biodiesel manufacturing, and grains processing and merchandising. It has over 500 manufacturing plants and an extensive distribution network covering China, India, Indonesia and some 50 other countries.
**Main duties and responsibilities**
The Assistant Research Officer is expected to:
- Develop and optimize microbes and relevant bioprocess for cost-effective production of industrial chemicals;
- Collaborate with academia and industry in biotechnology and synthetic biology; and
- Assist in other duties that are delegated by the Team Lead or Research Scientist.
**Qualifications**
The applicant should:
- Have passion for synthetic biology and metabolic engineering;
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering, or related disciplines;
- Have a good knowledge on biochemistry, microbiology, and molecular biology;
- Have hands-on experience on molecular cloning, or microbial engineering;
- Be able to perform experiments required for biochemical production;
- Be able to work independently and in a team.
