**Job Description Summary**: We are looking for a talented and highly motivated seasoned AI/ML Scientist who will focus on developing models that solve complex problems in the Sales, Marketing and Customer Success domains. As a MTS2, AI scientist, you will collaborate with a strong team of Engineers, Product Managers, Architects and other Data Scientists to build highly accurate and performant ML models that drive efficiencies for PayPal. In order to maintain the promise of being “world-class”, we need someone continuously looking into advancing functional capabilities, improving operational efficiencies, improve the scalability & reliability of the platform. As a MTS2, AI Scientist, you will set best practices, design, research, development and modelling processes for a team of highly skilled Data Scientists that continues to grow.

With the ability to cut through the noise and focus on what really matters, you will serve as an AI scientist to continuously push the boundary in the AL/ML space and work on the most impactful features. You are customer-centric, continuously demonstrate strategic & analytical abilities, and are laser focused on executing at scale. In this role, you will partner with diverse cross-functional teams to lead, execute, monitor, and deliver results for Customer Service. You must have the ability to succeed in a matrix environment, where success is dependent on your ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners in a positive, productive, and transparent way.

Your day to day

**In your day to day role you will**:
Drive Search Science with a focus on ranking, intent and query understanding, and search evaluation and quality.

Evaluating overall search quality to prioritize projects across the Search and Discovery portfolio as well as to evaluate ranking and intent models for potential AB testing and working with PM to make launch decisions.

Building NLP models in the areas of Content Moderation, Conversational AI, Intelligent Contact Center, Search, Speech to Text

Working cross functionally with operations and product teams to define and collect labels for model training, optimize effectiveness of manual review, and build self-satisfiable verifications that scale.

Devising optimization models to make optimal business decisions while minimizing risk

Innovating modeling frameworks in this adversarial setup, e.g., how can models collaboratively surface more risks, or how can models adapt to emerging patterns quickly

Utilizing Deep Learning techniques for advanced feature engineering and model building, e.g., how to model for user behavior sequences, or how can we detect anomalies effectively.

What do you need to bring

Proven Applied Science experience, including working with highly diverse and global teams

Expertise in Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning, Neural Networks, or Visual Search

Experience with Search or Recommendation applied science (e.g. ranking, query understanding)

Track record of delivering cloud-scale, data-driven products and services

Proven ability to influence across teams

Excellent communication skills and an ability to collaborate with engineering, data science and product management partners while delivering a complex roadmap

PhD in an AI field is highly preferred
