SCIENTIST/SENIOR SCIENTST

MONITORING & EVALUATION TEAM

**Responsibilities**:

- Implement and review food safety monitoring and biosurveillance programmes, to monitor foodborne and zoonotic hazards in the food chain; assess food safety risks and pathways of higher priority food/hazards; contribute to making recommendations to improve and strengthen food safety monitoring and biosurveillance programmes.
- Communicate findings from monitoring programmes to target audiences through stakeholder engagement, conference presentations, scientific publications, and project reports.
- Contribute to SFA’s scientific merit through translation of scientific findings through scientific presentations and peer-reviewed publications.
- Contribute to scientific R&D projects, whether within the organization with other departments/divisions or externally with local/international institutions, on projects that collectively support the SFA’s mission and vision.
- Support administrative work including procurement, preparation of project proposals and/or agreements, and maintain proper documentation on project management of food safety monitoring and biosurveillance programmes.
- This job description provides a high-level view of the types of work performed. Other job-related duties (e.g. field sampling) may be assigned as required.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree (with postgraduate degree preferred) in epidemiology, life science/biochemistry, veterinary science or relevant quantitative disciplines (e.g. data science, statistics, computational science), or equivalent fields OR a minimum of 3 years of working experience in a related field.
- Basic experience in using statistical or data analytics and visualisation software (e.g. SPSS, Power BI, Tableau). Familiarity with programming languages (e.g. Python or R) tools and food chain models is a bonus.
- Prior working experience on public health/food safety surveillance or life science/biochemistry laboratory work is considered an asset.
- A strong record of peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals will be an advantage.
- Strong aptitude for Learner Mindset and detail oriented.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of multidisciplinary teams or independently.
- Highly driven and able to take personal responsibility and initiative for delivering quality work with mínimal supervision.
- Able to manage multiple priorities at the same time and deliver timely under high workload.
