As the General Manager of Global Research & Innovation Center (Global R&I), the incumbent is responsible for the leadership of carrying out research activities that includes identifying & sourcing for research partners and garnering business support for energy & environment, ICT, transportation, food tech area in Southeast Asia, Australia and Israel.
He/she is also expected to nurture and maintain relationships with major government bodies, universities, venture companies and other research & development institutes and to find innovative, cost effective means to improve research, techniques, procedures and/or products for developing, conducting and evaluating new approaches to meet project objectives in a faster and more efficient manner.
**Area of responsibility**
Resource for Business support / research partner
- Work closely in consultation with both internal & external stakeholders such as head of business units, senior vice president, engineering department, universities, business partners, potential customers, and government agencies in Southeast Asia countries, Australia and Israel.
- Collect information to study and analyze the markets for technology field projects.
- Identify problems and related technical issues to derive long term, generic solutions.
- Identify technical approach for solving problems and meeting customer/government needs.
- Prepare market on-demand research and analysis report and participate in academic conferences, industry exhibitions, and open seminars etc.
- Establish human network with research institutions, universities and corporation in various countries (Singapore and overseas) so as to identify key researchers and establish connection with key person.
- Coordinate and attend meetings with MHI Research & Innovation Center.
- Prepare weekly reports
**Job requirements**
- Minimum Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Science or Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of management experience in a research institute as a team leader.
- Excellent Japanese Language skills (JLPT N1 or equivalent level) in both business writings & speaking to coordinate & communicate precise information with Japanese stakeholders in the APAC region / counterparts in Japan HQ.
- Report &/or advise on edged technologies and regional customer needs to MHI-HQ
- Coordinate research & development projects involving internal & outside cooperation
- Survey the latest technology/marketing trends in South East Asia, India, and Oceania
- Coordinate research & development projects with research &/or business partners
- Experienced in promoting market/technology research works.
- Good management skills.
- Good communication capability and able to establish good relationships with external experts, as well as to connect with MHI internal stakeholders.
- Minimum 10 years of experiences as research engineer of combustion, heat transfer, fluid dynamics and relating products.
