- Ensuring a safe and efficient operational environment during the crisis and post-crisis periods
- At every opportunity reiterating the scale of COVID financial impact on the airline industry and proposing defined solutions that ensure operational efficiencies are generated wherever/whenever possible, whilst avoiding increases in ATC charges
- At every opportunity seeking and/or supporting coordinated ATM initiatives focused on improved environmental performance

This will be accomplished through high level contact with government authorities, air navigation service providers, airports and international agencies - particularly ICAO.

An important component of the role will be assisting in the management of IATA’s participation at key regional ICAO meetings. Within Asia-Pacific, ICAO is the key forum for advancing IATA’s safety, infrastructure, flight efficiency, cost containment and operational/environmental performance agenda.

Post-COVID, Asia-Pacific remains forecast to be the world’s highest growth aviation region. Effective monitoring and management of ATM infrastructure and allied issues (including cost) is crucial to ensuring that growth can be safely, efficiently, and sustainably accommodated.

**What your day would be like**:

- Present and promote IATA requirements, technical policies, products and services to ICAO, government authorities, air navigation service providers and airports in the Asia Pacific Region
- Act on behalf of IATA member airlines to promote safe, efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective operations in accordance with IATA's industry priorities and objectives
- Work with the Asia Pacific member airline Regional Coordination Group (RCG) to set objectives and priorities
- Represent IATA member airlines during consultations with ANSPs and civil aviation authorities on the setting of ATC charges
- Advocate for timely and appropriate development and maintenance regional of and global ATC infrastructure
- Coordinate airline input during ICAO/CAA rule-making and standard-setting processes
- Respond to tactical issues arising in day-to-day operations in the region as well as provide information and support to IATA member airlines during periods of disruption/contingency operations
- Support revenue generation by promoting IATA products and services, and/or supporting the activities of IATA Consulting
- Establish and maintain close working relationships with:

- colleagues across the Operations, Safety and Security (OSS) division
- other IATA divisions and the various Asia-Pacific country offices
- member airlines
- civil aviation administrations and air navigation service providers
- the ICAO regional office in Bangkok and the regional sub-office in Beijing
- relevant inter-governmental agencies and trans-national bodies such as ASEAN and APEC
- other user representative groups, particularly the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA)

**We would love to hear from you if possess**:

- University degree in aviation management or other relevant discipline (relevant professional qualifications/experience may be considered in lieu of a university degree
- **(Essential) **10-15 years of relevant experience in the fields of airline, ANSP or regulatory management dealing with technical, safety, security and/or operational activities
- **(Essential) **A high degree of analytical skill and technical knowledge in the provision of air navigation services with wide knowledge of ICAO standards and recommended practices, industry best practices and civil aviation operational procedures
- Initiative and ability to work without constant supervision, as well as ability to perform under pressure and within variable working hours and schedules
- Strong communications skills and ability to speak in public to large audiences
- Ability to develop effective advocacy strategies, including drafting clear and concise technical papers
- Ability to deal with member airlines at a technical, safety and operational level with a positive approach to problem solving
- Diplomacy in relationships with contacts in government and other key organizations
- Proficiency with MS Office
- Fluency in English, whilst knowledge of other regional languages will be an asset
- Ability to travel frequently and manage a large and dynamic workload whilst on the road
