Overview:
The Innovation Lead carries the overall role for product development, innovation and research execution plans in Kemin Asia. Major responsibilities include experimental design, feasibility determination, lab and pilot scale execution and post product launch studies.

**Responsibilities**:

- Execution of applied research projects as per the Product Innovation Process of Kemin.
- As an Innovation Tech Scout for R&D to explore high potential innovations and technologies for adoption and commercialization.
- As Project Manager, ensure end-to-end deliverables are met from R&D lab scale to pilot scale and commercial production, as well as meeting quality control specifications.
- Develop new data for products by conducting animal trials in collaboration with Technical and Marketing teams and external research institutions/academia.
- Resolve customers’ complaints/requirements related to technical issues and product quality.
- Performance indicators include publication of internal white papers and international peer review journals, and generation of intellectual property leading to new patents with commercial value.
- Conduct presentations at conferences or at customers’ meetings/events to enhance Kemin’s branding and profile.
- Evaluate and validate all methodologies for the laboratory against established protocols.
- Responsible for hiring, training and developing junior research staff.
- Manage R&D budgets and expenditure for the respective research group.
- Uphold current Good Laboratory Practices, data integrity, ensure systematic research work documentation and timely reporting of project progress.

**Other cross functional roles**:

- Assist Regulatory Affairs team in registration of products in various countries by developing data that are required by the local regulatory bodies.
- Work closely with Quality Assurance and Quality Control teams in developing specifications for raw materials and finished goods and in implementing quality management systems
- Interact and engage customers with the Sales and Marketing Team, by bringing in Kemin’s evidence-based science to strengthen product value proposition.
- Work with the Purchasing team to qualify raw materials and packaging materials used for production and in identifying and qualifying new raw materials and suppliers.
- Support the Operations team to troubleshoot production issues.

Qualifications:

- A Ph.D in Biochemistry/Chemistry with at least five years research experience in the academia or industry. Technical background in animal health and nutrition sciences (poultry, swine and ruminant) would be ideal.
- Commercial experience with business acumen will be an added advantage.
- Strong team player and collaborative by nature.
- Ability to lead, mentor and motivate a young research team
- Excellent writing, communications and presentation skills
