The Quality Engineer is based in Changi South, Singapore. Primarily responsible to maintain quality engineering programs, standards and improvements within the organization.
What a typical day looks like:
- Assist the Quality Manager to manage the Quality activities in meeting company’s objective of achieving quality performance index from customers.
- Develop, implement, maintain updates with continuous improvement on procedures of day to day operation based on AS9100 & ISO 9001 requirements.
- Hands-on and work with CFT/ Operation Team to ensure compliant to standardized process such that product quality can be built-into products, to identify process problems and implement solutions promptly to resolve customer’s complaints and to conduct product compliance audit internally and with external (eg customer) auditor as per requirements.
- Hands on involvement to manage and resolve customer complaints and related issues through closed loop corrective and preventive action, 8D reports etc.
- On time reporting to management (weekly, monthly reports per aligned with superior/management) and to customers, including weekly, monthly meetings.
- Hands-on support to resolve parts quality problem encountered swiftly so that production/ shipment is not delayed.
- Facilitate discussion with supplier on technical/parts quality issues to eliminate recurrence and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain and continually improve on the supplier quality engineering programs, standards and improvements within the organization.
- Interface with suppliers on defective parts disposition and recovery to prevent impact to production.
- Conduct supplier quality audit/assessments.
- Any other ad-hoc activities assigned.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
- Diploma/ Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Electromechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Process Technology.
- Over 4 years of hands-on relevant experience in interfacing with in-house production, customers and suppliers on parts quality issues.
- Hands-on knowledge and experience in precision machining, sheet metal manufacturing, plastics etc.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, interpret requirements in Metrology, Geometric, Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
- Good team player who is self motivated, independent and has ability to exercise independent judgment in complex situations.- Ability to influence and successfully lead in a fast-paced, matrix-reporting, multi-cultural environment.- Willing to travel occasionally.
- Knowledge of product safety compliance requirements related to UL, CSA, CCC etc. would be an advantage.
- Practical knowledge of sheet metal secondary processes such as plating, powder coating, anodizing, spray painting would be an advantage.
