Senior Research Engineer I

Nanyang Technological University’s National Centre for Research in Digital Trust (DTC) is a Trust Technology Research Centre to execute a national program to help put Singapore into a strong trust hub. The key objective is to support efforts to create a trusted digital environment for people and businesses in the digital transformation by providing businesses and consumers with greater assurance and confidence as they digitalize.
We are looking for a Senior Research Engineer to design, develop, implement, and oversee techniques and systems in Trust Technology and related areas such as privacy and security, blockchain, and Web 3.0 which are important components of digital trust platforms. The role will focus on emerging technologies that engender trust and espouse the values of fairness, safety, and privacy in digital technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive landscape studies and gap analyses of data privacy regulations, frameworks, and best practices across local and global jurisdictions.- Work closely with government agencies to interpret policy direction and synthesize them into technical research goals and solution requirements.- Design and lead privacy-focused studies, including user behavior, compliance challenges, and industry impact assessments.- Translate insights from policy and legal domains into system architecture recommendations and prototype development.- Draft high-quality research proposals to secure project funding, aligned with strategic national and institutional objectives.- Support the development of white papers, technical documentation, and policy recommendations on emerging data privacy challenges.- Engage with cross-disciplinary teams (legal, tech, public policy) to ensure alignment of research outcomes with real-world implementation needs.
Job Requirements:
- Masters’ degree in computer science, or relevant field.- 6 years of experience in data privacy, regulatory compliance, or digital trust-related roles.- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively across technical and policy domains.- Self-motivated, and could deliver under tight schedule
