With billions of videos viewed and more than 1 billion words translated, Viki brings global entertainment to fans everywhere- Based in Singapore, this Senior Engineer, Multimedia role will report to the Engineering Manager, Multimedia.- About the Multimedia Team:
- The Multimedia Team takes care of the entire media pipeline at Viki from content reception to client delivery, including video processing (encoding, multi-DRM encryption and packaging), cloud storage, multi-CDN management, playback quality control, subtitles update and end-user QoE. The team is instrumental in ensuring the delivery of all content on Viki’s platform and the first class watch experience for all users.- Key Responsibilities:- Ownership of multiple services or areas of work within a platform subsystem-
- Owns the end-to-end delivery of tasks/features from design, development, testing to release-
- Delivers high-quality code that is extensible, reliable, and performant-
- Assesses technical complexity and risk, and communicates it effectively-
- Responsible for handling and fixing issues as the primary owner of multiple services-
- Review code changes requests to identify potential improvements and prevent errors, and approve code reviews-
- Contributes to software development guidelines and best practices as part of their work-
- Communicate, document and provide guidance to junior engineers around the features delivered- Requirements:- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent fields-
- At least 6 years of software engineering experience-
- Proficient in designing and developing large-scale distributed systems and microservices-
- Certain level of familiarity with backend development-related technology stacks such as Go/Golang, Node.js, Ruby, Javascript, Python, PostgreSQL (Mysql), RabbitMQ, Redis, AWS and GCP-
- Extensive knowledge of practical operating system concepts around Linux/ Unix and networking- Good to Have:
Prior Understanding of concepts around CDN, Adaptive bitrate streaming protocols (HLS / MPEG-DASH), and DRM is plus but not required.-
