The Asian School of the Environment (ASE) at Nanyang Technological University is an interdisciplinary School that aims to be a world leader in environmental research focusing on environmental challenges in Asia. ASE integrates earth and environmental life science, ecology, engineering and technology, human ecology, humanities, and the social sciences to address key issues of the environment and sustainability.
The research laboratory on Resilient and Inclusive cities at ASE addresses important challenges related to rapid urbanization and climate change in Asia-Pacific. It focuses on understanding and modelling the benefits of nature-based solutions - e.g. urban parks or peri-urban forests, road trees, green roofs - in the region to inform policy and practice, and create more resilient and inclusive cities. The program builds upon an interdisciplinary approach, combining geospatial modeling of urban environments and empirical studies of urban practice.
The laboratory is currently looking for a Research Assistant to conduct research on Tropical ecosystems’ response to future climate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the literature review on ecosystems’ response to future climate variability in Singapore- Supporting the quantitative assessment of a subset of ecosystem services by estimating the ecological response of selected species to future climateJob Requirements:
- BSc in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Sciences or equivalent- Experience or strong interest in nature-based solutions in urban environments- Meticulous and organized, strong attention to details- Preferably with work experience with local agencies- Able to work in a multi-disciplinary team to deliver research results- Preferably with good command of English
