Assistant Director, Research Compliance

The Assistant Director (Research Compliance) helps to lead and drive the research compliance framework and initiatives across NTU. Due to increasing regulatory controls imposed by various local legislations (e.g. ABA, HBRA, PDPA) on research activities involving humans and animals, there has been expanded requirements on the proactive monitoring of such research by host institutions to ensure greater protection and welfare of humans and animals.
As NTU is the receiver of international grants, there has also been increasing requirements to ensure research projects are compliant with international regulations. These include regulations on Dual-use Research, Export Controls, and UN-sanctioned countries. To ensure NTU does not get into legal or financial difficulties, it is important for research projects to be in compliance with relevant external regulations too.

**Responsibilities**:
- To lead and drive the research compliance framework in NTU, including assisting in drafting of research policies and guidelines relating to the proper conduct of research activities in NTU.- To conduct post-approval monitoring of animal and human research projects to ensure adherence to policies. local regulatory requirements and international best practices.- To facilitate and conduct inspections of animal research facilities, and facilitate reviews of animal and human research programmes in NTU.- To work collaboratively with researchers across NTU, and teams from the IRB and IACUC.- To assist in investigations of non-compliances, follow-up on incidences of safety or adverse events, and ensure timely reporting to regulatory agencies where necessary.- To conduct training to the local research community when required through workshops/seminars.
**Requirements**:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a biomedical related field and related areas from an accredited university. Masters and PhD preferred.- At least 6-8 years’ experience in research administration/ research ethics/ research compliance/ regulatory affairs/ quality assurance. Experience in hands-on animal or human research work is an advantage.- Possess knowledge of local laws and regulations related to animal or human ethics.- Possess strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to manage cross-functional, institutional relationships.- Able to manage complex situations, work collaboratively with key stakeholders, and multitask.- Able to work with a high degree of accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail.Hiring Institution: NTU
