A Research Assistant position is currently available in the Nanyang Environment & Water Research Institute (NEWRI).

**Responsibilities**:
Support procurement, administrative and research activities through the following actions
- Ensure documentation submitted for purchases are in order (accompanying quotations, WBS information, delivery address etc.)
- Handle paperwork for non-PO purchases
- Work closely with NEWRI Finance on payment related matters; help with documentation for submission of claims
- Update chemical inventory list upon receipt of ordered chemicals; track, monitor and update inventory data on controlled chemicals to ensure the inventory never exceeds the maximum allowable quantity
- Follow up e-invoice submission with requestor and supplier; follow up delivery of ordered items with respective requestors and subsequently scan & upload DOs to reflect status of goods received
- Help the registration process in the system for new suppliers
- Prepare documents for purchase of new assets
- Assist the lab manager in activities including those related to audit preparation and the physical checking of chemical inventory
- Assist the lab manager in drawing rosters for periodic housekeeping in the lab; help out and ensure good housekeeping and a safe work environment in the lab
- Assist in research activities in the lab, helping run experiments and gathering data

Assist/support the Lab Manager in the following areas
- Serve as the person-in-charge (PIC) for lab equipment/instruments under one’s charge - generating RAs, SWPs, training new users and maintaining training records
- Check and approve purchase requests (including chemicals) from lab users
- Generate purchase requests for replenishment of lab consumables and common chemicals

**Job Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering
- 3-5 years of experience working in a laboratory in an academic or industrial setting will be preferred
- Open to movement/deployment to other areas within NEWRI’s operations based on the organization’s needs
- Strong commitment to safety
- Strong sense of ownership, drive, initiative and multitasking ability
- Strong communication and influencing skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with good team player abilities
