- Department: Corporate Management- Location: Singapore- In this role, you’ll be the government affairs representative who will bring to life Lazada’s meaningful impact and solid corporate reputation in Singapore. This will include efforts to build profile among government and industry, advocate for policies that will be favourable to the eCommerce sector, analyse political development that will impact the company, and build partnerships with government, SMEs communities, universities and NGOs.**Responsibilities**:
- Represent Lazada before the Singapore government.
- Drive and develop strategic programs that increase Lazada Singapore’s thought leadership, corporate reputation, and meaningful impact.
- Create narratives, strategies, programs and other means to protect and scale Lazada Singapore’s core reputation, and raise its profile and visibility among government and industry stakeholders.
- Consult closely with Lazada Singapore’s leadership to provide sound government affairs guidance on navigating and managing issues and risks.
- Analyse geopolitical developments to develop strategic insights and advocacy plans
- Help to interpret, explain, and present the regulatory and political landscape to the senior management team and other stakeholders
- Build a network and relations with the relevant stakeholders and help to advocate, negotiate or defend positions, including in potentially contentious areas
- Engage with key politicians, regulators, officials, representatives and, where relevant international or foreign governments
- Manage external agencies or consultants, while keeping an eye on cost control and quality
- Monitor crisis management, reaching clear solutions when required
- Create strong commercial partnerships, via Lazada’s government relations and drive business outcomes
- Host visits to Lazada Singapore by foreign government and industry delegations
- Support the Group Head of Government Affairs in day-to-day operations
**Job Requirements**
- A bachelor’s degree, preferably in a relevant field such as Politics, Communications, International Relations, Legal, and Business Administration.
- At least 5 years of relevant public policy and advocacy experience, e.g. corporate public policy and government relations teams, government, trade association or non-governmental organization
- Fluent in spoken and written English; fluent in spoken Chinese.
- Previous experience working for or engaging with governments, industry associations, regulatory agencies, tax authorities is highly desirable.
- A track record of public policy and government relations program experience
- Deep interest and experience in government engagement strategy and implementation
- Experience in stakeholder management and planning and ability to collaborate with senior stakeholders
- Strong project management skills to meet deadlines, establish clear priorities quickly and bring projects to completion on time and within budget
- Ability to understand the business model, the company strategy and legal/regulatory challenges and ensure KPIs are aligned to this strategy
- Excellent problem-solving skills; self-motivated, with strong analytical thinking
- Ability to perform under pressure
- Impeccable degree of discretion, confidentiality and ethics
- Able to coordinate a wide array of internal and external resources to obtain, process, and operationalize information and develop strategies
