**Project Titles: Mobile Web App for Preschool Screening of Language Weakness in English and Mandarin (MAPS-LEM); Growth in Bilingual & Biliteracy Proficiency: Environmental, Individual & Experiential Factors (GIBBER) [A*STAR-HPP 2/22 SG (H22P0M0006)]**

**Project Introductions**:We plan to capture the developmental trajectories of Singaporean children’s English Language (EL) and Mother Tongue (MTL) proficiency from Kindergarten 1 to Primary school 4 and develop assessment tools to gauge EL and MTL proficiency. For example, for K-1, Singapore’s first mobile language screener with multiple tests of English and Mandarin language proficiencies is proposed. This sets the stage for large-scale targeted interventions addressing language weakness early on, which could improve long-term social and mental health.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline (e.g., speech language therapy, psychology, linguistics, bilingualism, child development, childhood education, statistics, programming)
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with children (kindergarten age)
- Able to work independently with mínimal supervision
- Proficiency in English and Mandarin
- Be comfortable in being trained to program in R

**Preferred**
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in research or practice
- Able to do basic programming in R (Training provided)
- Leadership experience
- Ability to present research findings through various platforms

**Responsibilities**
- Work closely with the project leaders/research team to create a test battery for language weakness
- Collect data from Kindergarten and Primary School age children in an on-time and reliable manner
- Conduct literature and database searches
- Conduct data processing, scoring, and analysis with assistance from PI
- Wide range of administrative duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator (PI)
