**About the role**
Managing a team of professional Contracts Officers who are responsible for preparing, reviewing and negotiating contracts for the sale and purchase of petroleum products and crude under Trading & Shipping.
Providing pre and post deal contractual advice to Trading team and other internal stakeholders to protect Ampol’s position pertaining to complex or high value or high-risk transactions.
Resolving ad hoc contractual problems to mitigate Ampol’s loss pertaining to complex or high value or high-risk transactions.
Integrating Contracts support of new business units or growth area of business to manage contractual risk through reviewing Ampol systems, processes and procedures and implementing pertinent changes.
Integrating new internal Ampol’s policies and regulatory requirements by reviewing Ampol systems, processes and procedures and implementing pertinent changes.
The role and the Contracts Team cover both Trading & Shipping’s Singapore and Houston offices.

**Key responsibilities**
- To manage overall directions and to prepare, review and negotiate, within agreed parameters, contract documentation for the sale and purchase of crude and petroleum products.
- Identify and embed continuous improvement initiatives including process, templates and procedures.
- To provide direction, guidance, coaching and mentoring to Contracts Officers in negotiating with counterparty on contractual terms and conditions in accordance with the commercially agreed terms to protect Ampol’s position.
- Provide pre and post deal contractual advice to support Trading team and other internal mid-office and back-office teams by (i) identifying areas of opportunity for value creation to optimize value for Ampol and (ii) areas of gaps to manage commercial, contractual and financial risks, in delivery of Trading and Shipping business objectives.
- Provide contractual advice to Trading team in drafting and negotiating ad hoc trade recaps to facilitate new business development and complex contractual arrangements and structured deals to maximise value and mitigate contractual exposures for Ampol.
- Keep abreast of any change of industry practices, Ampol business strategy and regulatory restrictions so as to make constant adaptable procedural changes for integration to Contract process without compromising on internal policies and overall governance and risk control framework.
- Provide sharing sessions with internal stakeholders on contracts to impart knowledge on contractual terms to enhance stakeholders performance.
- Actively participating as a member of the Singapore trading and legal teams through sharing information and learnings, sharing workload as required by the General Counsel, Trading & Shipping and active participation in team meetings.
- Provide Subject matter expert support to assist the Ampol Singapore Legal team in litigation and dispute support.
- Work with the Ampol Cross-function teams including Trading and Legal teams to identify, implement and monitor continuous improvement opportunities within Ampol Trading and Shipping.

**Qualifications & experience**
- Degree in Maritime Studies or Law.
- Desirable: Degree in a related discipline
- Minimum 10 - 15 years of experience working in the contracts department of a crude and/or petroleum products trading business.
- Minimum 5 years of leading Contracts department in oil trading industry.
- Accustomed to working in an unstructured and dynamic environment handling complex and ad-hoc Sale and Purchase oil trading contracts.

**Knowledge & skills**:

- Strong understanding of oil trading contractual terms and conditions;
- Strong knowledge of industry General Terms and Conditions;
- Strong knowledge of operations of petroleum trading and shipping.
- High competency in contract analysis, negotiation skills, strategic thinking and practical problem-solving skills;
