**The China bank are planning to establish a Precious Metal desk in Singapore to engage in regional (non-China) trading activities and expand globally in the future. They are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Head of Trading who will be responsible for spearheading the desk's formation and building a capable team of traders.
**Responsibilities**:

- **Strategic Planning**: Develop a comprehensive strategic plan for the precious metal desk, outlining short-term and long-term trading objectives, risk appetite, and profit targets.
- **Market Analysis**: Conduct in-depth market analysis and research on precious metal markets, including supply and demand dynamics, macroeconomic factors, geopolitical events, and competitor analysis.
- **Trading Strategies**: Formulate effective trading strategies based on market analysis, historical data, and risk management principles. Identify opportunities for arbitrage and hedging strategies.
- **Risk Management**: Implement robust risk management practices to mitigate trading risks. Define position limits, stop-loss levels, and stress testing methodologies.
- **Trading Execution**: Execute proprietary trades and monitor trading activities to ensure compliance with trading strategies and risk parameters.
- **Hiring and Team Building**: Oversee the recruitment process to build a team of skilled traders. Mentor and guide traders to improve their performance and adherence to trading strategies.
- **Technology and Infrastructure**: Collaborate with technology specialists to set up trading infrastructure, including trading platforms, market data feeds, and algorithmic trading systems.
- **Compliance and Regulations**: Ensure that all trading activities adhere to regulatory requirements and internal compliance policies. Stay updated with relevant financial regulations and implement compliance frameworks.
- **Performance Analysis**: Analyze trading performance and conduct post-trade analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of trading strategies and identify areas for improvement.
- **P&L Management**: Responsible for the overall profit and loss (P&L) of the precious metal desk. Monitor and report P&L results to senior management.
- **Relationship Management**: Build and maintain strong relationships with external counterparties, brokers, and other market participants.
- **Continuous Learning**: Keep abreast of industry trends, trading technologies, and best practices to enhance the desk's competitiveness.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in precious metal trading, preferably in a proprietary trading environment or financial institution.
- Proven track record of successful trading and risk management in precious metal markets.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex market data and identify trading opportunities.
- Excellent leadership and team-building skills to attract and retain top talent.
- Deep understanding of financial risk management principles and trading strategies.
- Familiarity with trading platforms, algorithmic trading, and market data feeds.
- Proficiency in relevant financial regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills for dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in finance, economics, or a related field.
