Join us as an Operational Risk Manager
- We’ll look to you to help the APAC Chief Risk Officer (CRO) deliver an operational risk strategy to support our ambition, approach, and risk appetite, aligned to the bank’s wider vision
- You’ll provide oversight and challenge of the NatWest Markets APAC Risk profile for operational risks, providing the CRO and APAC leadership with adequate risk information, independent assessment, expert analysis, challenge, and decision support
- This is a varied and engaging role that offers significant exposure

**What you'll do**:
This role will see you providing oversight and challenge to our first line of defence on material risks, and providing a credible, second line of defence challenge to business senior management, business teams, and policy standard owners on the effective management of operational risks. As such, you’ll deliver effective risk-based oversight and challenge of risks and controls to help maintain a safe, sound, and sustainable business within agreed risk appetite. You’ll also contribute to the development of a good team working ethos, take responsibility for your own personal development, and pro-actively support the team with development opportunities where appropriate.

In more specific terms, you’ll:

- Implement, monitor, and simplify key risk management frameworks and policies
- Ensure that first line of defence teams are aware and enabled to execute the relevant components of the operational risk framework
- Provide expert advice to the business on operational risk management including providing senior executives with relevant MI and reports, and escalating concerns where appropriate
- Provide an effective contribution to relevant board and committees in line with the terms of reference and applicable legal and regulatory requirements
- Ensure risk practices and behaviours are consistent with the bank’s target risk culture
- Identify and manage conduct risk to deliver key customer outcomes

**The skills you'll need**:
We’re looking for someone with financial services experience in senior management positions, and a strong track record of delivery across multiple businesses, involving complex stakeholder, process, and technology issues. You’ll have experience of industry risk management leadership, and high levels of awareness and experience of front-line processes.

We’re also looking for:

- Experience of operational risk methodologies including regulations, capital adequacy requirements, framework design, and deployment and oversight challenge
- A strong understanding of operational risks relevant to key business activities undertaken within a financial services organisation
- Knowledge of the regulatory environment relevant to large complex financial services organisations
- An understanding of market conditions and how they could impact operational risks and practices
- The ability to influence stakeholders and manage conflict
