The Office of Academic Services (OAS) plays a key role in advancing the University's educational goals through implementing and administering the academic framework and policies established by the University's academic body. We support the development and review of academic policies, advise on the procedures, and maintain the academic records of students.
This incumbent will contribute significantly in the review processes of academic proposals at undergraduate level, ensure quality set up of programme, curriculum and courses in the University system and support the delivery of academic initiatives and services.
**Responsibilities**:
Academic Programmes and Curriculum
- Manage the end-to-end approval process for curricula changes and introduction of new courses.
- Provide judgement, with operational and system considerations, on undergraduate programme proposals and ensure compliance with academic framework and policies.
- Upkeep programme information, curricula requirements, and course details in curriculum management system.
- Collaborate with Schools, relevant functional teams and IT developers on programme implementation.
- Support system enhancement to deliver academic initiatives or improve operational efficiencies.
- Plan academic calendar and prepare academic structure handbook.
Student Pathway Records, Credit Transfers and Exemption
- Coordinate process for pathway (specialization, second major and minor) selection by students.
- Ensures accurate and prompt updates of pathways and the academic requirements in student records and degree audit system.
- Resolve any issue with student records with Schools and departments.
- Advise on credit transfer and course exemption policy and procedures.
- Evaluate appeals and submit deserving cases to senior management for approval on exceptional handling.
Policy Review and Process Streamlining, Data Request, Special Projects
- Support business process streamlining and automation, and system enhancement.
- Contribute to policy review and development of operational guidelines.
- Lead/collaborate in small-scale projects.
- Support data requests.
- Supervise communication on academic services by support officers.
**Requirements**:
- A good degree from a recognised university.
- At least 7 to 8 years of experience preferably in the tertiary education administration.
- Those with knowledge and exposure in academic programmes, curriculum and credit transfer will have added advantage.
- Knowledge in data query such as SQL will be a plus.
- Excellent in written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong planning and organising skills, with high attention to details.
- Self-driven with high integrity and resilience.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse community.
- Effective stakeholder engagement skill
