The role is responsible for ensuring compliance to all SHE rules and regulations related to all of NEWRI’s activities.

Workplace safety is of paramount importance to ensure the wellbeing of our employees and staff. With NEWRI taking on projects of increasing complexity, the organization needs a strong leader who is trained and has several years of experience in safety management.
- Develop and implement the safety management system.
- Develop and implement workplace safety initiatives, set and enforce safety standards, conduct safety audits and help senior management develop a strong safety culture in the organization.
- Work closely with researchers/lab users, guide and help them generate appropriate risk assessments and other safety related documentation
- Conduct regular inspections of NEWRI’s on-site and off-site pilot and demonstration plants to ensure adherence to safety regulations
- Walk the ground to ensure safety always remains the primary focus and lead by example
- Act as the custodian of all safety-related licenses and permits
- Work closely with counterparts at NTU’s Office of Health, Safety and Emergency (OHSE) to lead, drive and enforce safety initiatives at NEWRI
- Organize safety-related training for employees and conduct periodic safety meetings
- Investigate safety incidents and accidents, submit reports, recommend remedial actions and work with various stakeholders to ensure implementation of corrective actions
- Be the go-to person for all matters related to SHE

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Workplace Safety and Health (WSH)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in leading safety initiatives in a chemical/environmental laboratory setting
- Strong commitment to Safety and Health
- Ability to multitask and serve as the custodian of all permits and licenses
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability
- Strong communication and influencing skills
- Strong organizational skills with keen eyes for details
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well with all different levels within the organization
