**About You**

As a centre-based Early Childhood Special Education Teacher **, **you will design and implement an appropriate instructional programme to meet the individual needs of children and families with developmental delays and/or disabilities as identified through the Individualised Education programme (IEP) process.

This position is assigned to the EIC Developmental Preschool Programme.

**Qualifications**:
Advance Diploma, Diploma and/or Degree in Early Childhood Special Education

**Experience**:
Experience in teaching children with special needs (0-8 years of age) in a group setting

**Responsibilities and Duties
Being an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher is a unique task, you must have the capacity to:

- Lead a class and accommodate the diverse needs of young children.
- Modify instruction and make adaptations
- Provide classroom observation and comprehensive evaluation for children 0-8 referred to the EIC Developmental Preschool Programme for suspected developmental delays or disabilities: motor skills, cognition, communication and social-emotional areas.
- Be familiar with positive reinforcement and behavioural management strategies
- Plan and write children’s IEP and term progress reports.
- Implement special educational strategies and techniques during the lesson.
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons and communicate those objectives to students.
- Maintain accurate and complete daily student record.
- Provide a different variety of instructional practices
- Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress, and to determine their priorities for their children and their resource needs.
- Assist families in understanding child development and identifying developmentally appropriate expectations
- Assist families in understanding child development, identifying developmentally appropriate expectations and providing strategies and resources to assist the family in addressing the child’s needs.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate in a courteous and professional manner with internal and external stakeholders

- Experience in administering tools such as the Brigance and AEPS
- Take initiative and work independently when given a variety of responsibilities and assigned tasks
- Ability to make decisions and problem-solve collaboratively with a team of service providers in partnership with the family
- Ability to interact in sensitive and/or complex situations and make effective suggestions to parents and caregivers
