Public Health Nurse

**Job Summary**
To play a vital role in contact investigations involving active TB cases in various settings such as household, workplace, nursing homes, preschools and schools, by conducting interviews, communicating with and educating individuals diagnosed with TB, their contacts and external parties so as to improve the likelihood of their cooperation in this activity, and assist the Team Lead in ensuring smooth operations in the contact tracing team.
**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
Specific
- Perform contact investigations involving active TB cases
a. Conduct case interview
- b. Liaise with external parties where contact investigations are to be initiated, e.g., at workplaces, other congregate settings, etc.c. Perform site visits (virtual/physical) for assessment on the extent of contact investigations.
d. Conduct TB screening including blood taking, interviews at congregate settings.
e. Liaise with laboratory personnel and TB Contact Clinic staff to facilitate operations pertaining to on-site screening.
f. Perform and document contact tracing efforts in a timely fashion and collect contact tracing data for the National TB Registry Surveillance System.
2. Support TB cluster investigations, on-site screening (i.e. blood taking and interview) and patient education for NTBP’s mass screening exercises
3. Assist Contact Tracing Team Manager to establish operational procedures and manage medical equipment/supplies for the Contact Tracing team.
4. Support training and education activities under NCID/ NTBP.
a. Provide patient education based on the patient’s needs and within his/her competency.
b. Conduct and evaluate training to meet patient’s needs and expectations.
c. Maintain effective communication and interpersonal relationship with patients.
d. Act as a resource person for other team members.
5. Participate in personal and professional development.
a. Participate in continuing professional education to improve clinical knowledge and competence.
b. Develop junior team member through mentoring and preceptorial activities.
c. Implement and conduct in-service education for other team members.
d. Participate in evidence-based practice and research activities.
6. Participate in managing the resources of the team.
a. Demonstrate proper use and care of hospital equipment.
b. Assist in the monitoring of consumables and supplies usage.
c. Assist in maintaining inventories and equipment.
General
- To perform any duties assigned by his/her supervisor.
- Other responsibilities may include administrative duties pertaining to department operations such as workplace health and fire safety, office administration, etc.
**Job Requirements**
Education
Degree/Diploma in Nursing.
Experience
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office/Excel Applications, data management, statistics and administration.
- Relevant Public Health experience would be an advantage.
- Experience in establishing operational processes in clinic settings would be an advantage.
- Experience in handling difficult people and situations are preferred.
