Job description

1. Perform research in the following areas, to support the development of smart capabilities for vessel operations:
a. Coastal hydrodynamics modelling;
b. Wind-wave modelling;
c. Physical oceanography; and

d. Wave-current interactions.

2. Conduct extensive and high-quality research to develop integrated physical-numerical modelling & simulations using combinations of:
a. Physical experiments and field / experimental sensing;
b. Numerical simulations using CFD and/or potential flow-based models or other relevant techniques; and

c. Machine learning and data analytics

3. Collaborate with industry partners, affiliated research institutes and other relevant stakeholders to assist in securing further research grants.

4. Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirements

**Qualification & Field of Study**:
1. A Masters / B.Eng. in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture, Physical Oceanography, Applied Mathematics or other related disciplines.

2. Preferably 3 years of relevant working experience in research or industry with competent knowledge in some of the following areas. Fresh graduates with relevant knowledge will also be considered.

a. Good working knowledge in using hydrodynamic numerical models to simulate coastal hydrodynamics and wave hydrodynamics.

b. Physical modelling in wave flume, wave tank or ocean basin.

c. Sensing, data analytics and machine learning.

d. Prior experience / knowledge of the following software/programming languages will be preferred:
i. Delft3D, MIKE,

ii. SWAN,

iii. WAVE WATCH III,

iv. NEMO,

v. StarCCM+, OpenFOAM,

vi. Fortran, Python and/or C++

**Other Requirements**:
1. Good interpersonal and communications skills.

2. Ability to adapt and work effectively as members of a team.

3. Possess good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.

4. Resourceful and self-driven with a high degree of professional integrity.
