The Role

Surbana Jurong is seeking a Microgrid Engineer - Energy Transition to join our team, based in Singapore and working on global engineering projects.

This role involves leading / managing microgrid and distributed energy resource (DER) projects in renewable or low-carbon sectors, including overseeing budgets, schedules, and risks. Responsibilities include conducting techno-economic analyses, coordinating project resources and proposals, reviewing system designs and grid issues, and supporting project execution, tendering, and commissioning within the ASEAN region.
- Key responsibilities will include:_
- Qualitative and quantitative assessment of techno-economic analysis of projects and technologies
- Project manage resources, schedules, sub-contractors, budgets, and risks
- Preparation and submission of proposals for new projects
- Work collaboratively as part of a team and share knowledge with colleagues.
- Assist all other Energy Transition related project tasks
- Review/Check System Designs of electrical system - (transformer, LV/MV switchgears, etc) sizing, selection and evaluation, with consideration of space for CAPEX, efficiency, maintenance and operation.
- Perform and/or check/review computer simulation PVSyst, Homer Pro, MATLAB and Python.
- Undertake and check/review electrical AC/DC cable sizing
- Create and/or check and review electrical single-line diagrams, system designs, panel schedules, or connection diagrams for solar electric systems using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Develop design specifications on high level mechanical, electrical and digital systems of BoP
- Develop design specifications and functional requirements of the technologies
- Preparation and submission of proposals for new projects
- Support in tendering processes from RfP development till tender evaluation
- Support in project execution and commissioning activities such as preparing and monitoring project schedule, controlling communication and project document flow to meet deadlines, supervise contractor’s work on site and attend meetings with clients and other stakeholders
- Bachelor or Master degree (Hons) in Electrical Engineering from a University recognized by PEB (Singapore)
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in the integration of various renewable energy technologies as microgrid
- Knowledge on Power Flow tools such as PSSE or PowerWorld and PSCAD
- Hands on and familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink and Python tools.
- Knowledge on Microgrid modelling with all systems and components.
- Hands on experience with Plexos, Promod, and/or Aurora tools on grid and market modelling is an advantage.
- Good Knowledge in Renewables Energy Technology, Energy Storage Systems, Microgrids / Smart Grids.
- Experience in the integration of energy sources with energy enablers like BESS or other energy storage technologies, complying with applicable local codes & standards will be an advantage.
- Strong writing skills, verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to work with and manage clients and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to be an independent problem solver.
