Operations & Training Executive, Asia Pacific

**ROLE PURPOSE **(Why do we need this role?)
- To support the Operations department in supervising the day-to-day operations of Asia Pacific vessels
- Ensure the urgent issues in operations are prioritised and resolved immediately.
- Ensure training requirements and administration within the APAC region are addressed.
**ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES **(What is this role responsible for delivering?)
**Operations**
- Stand in and support decision making with the Fleet Operations Superintendent or Operations Manager when necessary.
- Review and propose changes for improvement to meet the established ISM standards and requirements for the company including SOLAS, MARPOL, and MLC.
- Review/track and manage LSA & FFA inventories and ensure they meet Statutory Flag requirements and ensure they are serviced before due.
- Assist on 3rd party services required by the fleet as and when required.
- Liaise with local/ oversea agencies and authorities in regards of operation matters.
- Monitor operations for APAC vessels on a daily basis and liaise with Accounts, Commercial, Purchasing, technical and other relevant departments on operational requirements.
- Monitor and follow-up action items from Masters under APAC region’s control.
- Liaise/coordinate with crewing team regarding crew relief planning/crew’s movements/documentation and to ensure that crew are certified as per statutory requirements and qualifications/trainings required by the charterers are met.
- Liaise crew change schedule with the charterer, and crewing department;
- Assist internal auditing among APAC region vessels as required.
- Liaise and resolve problems with internal and external contacts on a variety of matters, i.e. operational, manning requirement, immigration and port clearance issues, etc.
- Monitor and ensure that Company is getting the best/lowest rates from suppliers for its operational expenses such as agencies, ports and logistics suppliers.
- Respond to ad-hoc queries and requests from client, government contacts and TDW group.
- Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
**Training**
- Responsible for ensuring that TDW external training courses are arranged as per TIMS/Client requirement for shore/ship personnel.
- Maintain communication with vessels on TIMS training requirement.
- Ensure shore personnel trainings are recording in the matrix for tracking/traceability.
- Follow-up with shore personnel training gap analysis as per Performance review.
- Coordinate TDW internal training with the relevant department as per the Training Matrix.
- Follow-up on training evaluation, analysis and identify area of improvement
**QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS / LICENSES**
**Education or equivalent experience**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nautical studies, or a related field and minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
- Professional certification equivalent to 5 years of sea-going experience or equivalent to 2nd Officer rank
- Resourceful and self-driven with a high degree of professional integrity
- Excellent project management and collaboration skills
**Skills & Experience:
- **_Commercial Maritime Qualification (CMQ): _**_This industry-recognized qualification demonstrates competency in various aspects of commercial ship operations. Different levels of CMQ exist depending on the size and complexity of vessels managed. _
- **_Marine Orders: _**_2ndofficer qualification or COE issued by a recognised port authority _
- **_Strong understanding of maritime regulations: _**_This includes international regulations like SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) and MARPOL (International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships), as well as Australian domestic regulations. _
- **_Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills: _**_The ability to effectively communicate with crew members, shore-based teams, and external stakeholders is crucial. _
- **_Problem-solving and decision-making skills: _**_You'll need to make quick and sound decisions in potentially challenging situations. _
- **_Commercial acumen: _**_Understanding business aspects of shipping operations is valuable._
