**Job Description - Primary School Teacher**
**5 Reporting directly to: Level Coordinator and Head of Department**
**Position description**:
There is an expectation that all Primary Teachers behave in a professional and positive manner and represent role models within the school. They will be familiar with NPSI policies and procedures and will always actively promote and reinforce the NPSI Vision and Mission.
At all times, the teacher should follow the school handbook which details expectations on all aspects of their responsibilities, teaching role and wider conduct as a teacher within NPS International School.
**Responsibilities**
- **Teaching**
- Identify and use a range of teaching materials and resources including educational technology platforms and apps to provide engaging student-centred learning that sets high expectations for students
- Ensure that they establish and maintain an inclusive, collaborative, and purposeful learning environment that meets the needs of all learners whether in person or online during home-based learning
- Lesson plans should be differentiated to meet the needs of all learners and utilise appropriate teaching resources and strategies. Where appropriate teachers should work with the Special Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and Teaching Assistants and other agencies to identify and put support in place for learners with additional needs including English as an Additional Language (EAL), Gifted and Talented(G&T) and Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)
- Implement and use school behaviour management policies to maintain a purposeful and safe learning environment including managing the use of online teaching and learning platforms.
- Complete Teacher Unit Reflection and Student Unit Reflection as scheduled in the academic calendar and identify areas for improvement and action plans to share with co-teachers and Head of Department
- Always ensure the health and safety of all learners
- **Assessment, Recording and Reporting and General Administration**:
- Keep accurate and timely records of all student’s work
- Follow the school marking policy including setting and returning classwork and homework
- Provide timely appropriate, constructive, and formative feedback to students on their work. Both in notebooks and online learning management systems including My Maths, Seesaw and Firefly
- Prepare formative and summative question papers and a marking scheme as per the requirement of the policies and procedures of the school
- Always adhere to school’s assessment marking and moderation policies
- Analyse and appropriately use assessment information, which has been gathered from Formative and Summative assessments, to identify areas for improvement to improve learner outcomes.
- Write school reports in line with school’s policy
- Attend parent-teacher conferences and keep parents informed about their child’s performance and next steps in learning
- Ensure academic honesty is maintained by students and teacher
- **Extracurricular Activities**
- Support school activities including clubs, annual days, collaborations, language weeks and STEAM weeks
- Participate and contribute to the extra-curricular programme at NPSI including OBT and interschool competitions and events
- Carry out supervision or other duties that help maintain a safe and orderly environment for extracurricular activities
- **Pastoral Care**
- The Primary Teacher will ensure that students’ social and emotional needs are met through safe and supportive pastoral routines and procedures. These should ensure an atmosphere of mutual respect, friendship and collaboration at all times including registration, breaks and during class teaching time
- The teacher should report any Additional Needs, Child Protection or Safeguarding concerns immediately to their line manager or the designated school officer and maintain accurate records of concerns in the child’s anecdotal notes
- The teacher should maintain professional and effective communications with parents and carers using the school diary, electronic platforms
- The teacher should maintain accurate student attendance records including fire drill records
- **Performance management and professional development**:
- All Primary Teachers are observed on a regular basis through learning walks and observations. These may be undertaken by Level Coordinators, Primary Leadership Team, Heads of Department, or other colleagues. After being undertaken timely feedback will be provided.
- The teacher will participate in a mid-term and end of year performance appraisal to assess their performance
- The School will support the continuing professional development of the teacher and give appropriate opportunities to ensure that the teacher’s expertise is being kept up to date with the latest pedagogical trends
