**About the role**

The Trading Analyst supports traders in ensuring that all trading activity is correctly captured in source systems and properly represented in exposure and P&L reporting, to enable future decision making. The Trading Analyst is expected to have a good understanding of exposure, trading strategies and value drivers of the desk. The Trading Analyst will also provide management and traders with ad-hoc analysis and reporting and particpate in projects as required.

**Key responsibilities**
- Daily trade confirmation of physical deals, ensuring that trade details are correctly captured in the source system.
- Sound understanding of physical oil trades and derivatives and the calculation of exposure and P&L.
- Understanding of physical storages and inventory exposure management in context of trading.
- Ensure that trader exposure is updated accurately and in a timely manner and is consistent with source systems inputs.
- Develop a good understanding of trading flows, strategies, risk and value drivers including the Ampol transfer pricing mechanism.
- Support traders in P&L signoffs by reviewing and ensuring that the P&L issued by mid office is aligned with front office understanding.
- Work closely with operations and mid office to resolve exposure and P&L issues.
- Work with Australia office on physical liftings in Australia for trade monitoring.
- Enable RCOP P&L reporting by managing the daily internal hedging process and understand cargo level P&L including cost allocations.
- Gatekeeper of master data in source systems relevant to the trading areas, including price index maintenance and trading strategy allocations.
- Support the Ampol Refiner Margins/import margins and other performance reporting inputs process where needed.
- Provide management and traders with analysis, reporting and projects as required.

**Skills & experience**
- 2-5 years of experience in a commodity trading environment preferably in an exposure management or mid office role
- Good understanding of exposure and P&L of physical oil and paper trading. For physical trades, how key contractual terms, operational changes and costs impact exposure and P&L.
- Keen interest in understanding trading strategies and value drivers for the trading business.
- Self-starter with a drive for results and able to work independently.
- Able to work with systems and troubleshoot issues, with good spreadsheet skills.
- Demonstrates attention to detail with strong numeracy and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organisational skills with an ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a fast paced and changing environment.
- Able to influence change, effectively collaborate and communicate with other teams to resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Experience with VBA/Power BI or other programming skills desirable.
- Committed to continuous improvement.
