About the team
ByteDance Networking brings together innovative ideas and technologies from network architecture, intent-based networking, network virtualization, switch software and hardware co-design, and high-speed networking, to create hyperscale data-center networking solutions that power several of the most popular apps in the world, such as Douyin and TikTok, which serve hundreds of millions of users around the globe.
ByteDance Networking is responsible for designing, building, and operating the global, intelligent network infrastructure to meet the requirements of high availability, scalability, and high-performance. By joining this team, you will gain marketable software development and/or network operation experience in data center networking at massive scale.

**Responsibilities**:

- Deploy and maintain OTN infrastructure to support edge network build, expansion and optimization.
- Collaborate with network engineering, operations, and data center teams to integrate optical transport solutions.
- Plan and execute capacity upgrades, network migrations, and new deployments.
- Work with vendors and carriers to procure, configure, and troubleshoot optical transport equipment.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including network diagrams, operational procedures, and performance reports.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement solutions for optical transport network issues.

**Qualifications**:
**Minimum Qualifications**:

- 3+ years of experience in optical transport network engineering, with expertise in DWDM, ROADM, and coherent optics.
- Hands-on experience with leading optical transport platforms (e.g., Ciena, Nokia, Cisco, Infinera).
- Good understanding of optical fiber characteristics, transmission impairments, and network planning.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and perform detailed performance analysis.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- In-depth knowledge of network protocols and implementation in hyper scale data center networks.
- Programming/scripting in Python or other languages.
