Data Scientist

**Duties**:
**Duties at the GS-15**
- Serves as a senior Data Scientist expert responsible for the development, management, control, coordination, and execution of assigned data science requirements with technical expertise across the data life cycle (e.g., data collection, ingestion, storage, modeling, access, integration, analysis, and decision support) by managing complex data analysis and artificial intelligence activities.
- Conducts transactional and operational data analysis using software and/or programming languages such as R, Python, or SQL to explore/group data, test hypotheses, predict outcomes, and inform stakeholder (e.g., employing and other agency program IT office, management, and other staff) decisions.
- Analyzes unstructured, and/or complex data sets, elements, systems, flows, dependencies, and relationships to build conceptual, physical, and logical data model to develop data automations and processes (e.g., building, testing, and deploying code) using machine learning, artificial intelligence, programming languages and other tools to minimize human error and improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality for missions, goals, and future planning.
- Conceives, plans, and conducts projects to include data testing and production efforts for deployment in organizations private and secure data storage cloud. Interfaces with the Federal Acquisition Service (FAS) Cloud Service and Customer Domain Redshift Database for cloud based data management, storage, and computer resources.
- Translates business logic, analytic findings, and data limitations into concise, plain language to prepare and deliver written reports and presentations ( e.g., briefings, training sessions, and consultations).

The **GS-15 **salary range starts at **$143,736.00**

This is a **VIRTUAL** position. Location-based pay entitlements (such as locality payment) are based on the location of the employee's official worksite associated with the employee's position of record. **The location and salary will be negotiable upon selection.**

To qualify at the **GS-15** grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the **GS-14** level or higher in the Federal service.

Specialized experience is experience serving as a senior Data Scientist expert responsible for development, management, control, coordination, and execution of assigned data science requirements within GSA IT, which requires a high level of technical expertise across the data life cycle (e.g., data collection, ingestion, storage, modeling, access, integration, analysis, and decision support). Leverages data tools, programming skills, and data visualization and advanced analytic techniques to support the mission. Experience also includes:

- analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of the organization based on data findings to improve operations;
- analyzing management information requirements to develop program or administrative reporting data products, including data gathering, analytical techniques, data evaluation methodology, and design and implementation of the data science strategy.
- directing operational research and qualitative and quantitative analyses utilizing specially developed data models, pipelines, and analytic workflows.
