Job Description & Skills

**1. Database Management and Administration**:
a. Manage end-to-end database migrations from Oracle to PostgreSQL hosted on Azure cloud.

b. Administer SAP Db2 databases for mission-critical systems, ensuring high availability and performance.

c. Perform SQL Server version upgrades and maintain multiple SQL Server instances (2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022).

**2. Performance Tuning and Optimization**:
a. Conduct performance tuning for resource-intensive queries and jobs on MySQL, Ms-SQL, Db2, and PostgreSQL systems.

b. Optimize database performance by configuring database and DBM parameters, and fine-tuning queries and stored procedures.

**3. Automation and Scripting**:
a. Develop and implement shell scripts to automate database tasks and SAP interface operations.

b. Automate Db2 installation procedures in SLES and RHEL environments.

c. Create Ansible playbooks to automate database build activities and harden database security based on KSI parameters.

**4. Cloud and Distributed Systems**:
a. Build and maintain serverless, on-demand scalable AWS Aurora PostgreSQL and MySQL databases.

b. Deploy YugabyteDB solutions as a distributed, open-source, cloud-friendly database for clients.

c. Support cloud and on-premise systems, including Pure Data Analytics (Netezza) and IBM Integrated Analytics System.

**5. Consultancy and Client Support**:
a. Provide consultancy and implementation services tailored to client requirements.

b. Offer on-call 24x7 support for database issues, coordinating with various teams for successful issue resolution.

c. Communicate effectively with clients to understand problem scenarios and deliver technical solutions.

**6. Compliance and Security**:
a. Devise auditing requirements in compliance with IM8, CIS, and SAP guidelines.

b. Plan and execute critical vulnerability fixes to enhance database security and performance.

**7. Database Development and Migration**:
a. Conversion of Crystal Reports scripts from Oracle to PostgreSQL compatible syntactically and logically.

b. Leading database object migrations from Ms SQL to PostgreSQL, including setting up EC2/RDS instances on AWS and creating ODBC connections.

c. Develop scripts to automate migration tasks such as user role evaluation and index creation.

**8. Project Leadership and Coordination**:
a. Coordinate with Backup & Recovery, UNIX, and VM teams for successful database operations.

c. Participate in Agile-based projects with daily sprints and scrum meetings.

**9. Technical Expertise and Troubleshooting**:
b. Support database performance tuning, query optimization, and configuration for high efficiency.

c. Handle the creation of special builds to fix defects or bugs in existing database code.

**10. Documentation and Training**:
a. Creation of detailed documentation for release management and product usage.

b. Conduct Webex sessions and training with customers to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.

**11. Skills**
