Republic Polytechnic - Fixed Terms Closing on 29 Sep 2025 **What the role is** - The School of Engineering at Republic Polytechnic is seeking a Research Engineer to work on an industry project titled ""Smart Climbing Robot"" for 12 months. **What you will be working on** - Develop and prototype climbing robot solutions across multiple disciplines, including electronics, mechanical, mechatronics, firmware, and software development. - Collaborate with the team in the development process. - Conduct field tests in outdoor environment, including night testing. - Support exhibitions and roadshows as required. - Supervision of FYP/internship students working on the project. - Assist with the procurement process in accordance with the guidelines. **What we are looking for** - Strong coding experience in at least one of the following programming languages: Python, C, C++, and/or Java is highly preferable. - Good hands-on experience and knowledge using Qt software and ROS2 are essential. - Hands-on development skills using Raspberry Pi boards, Nvidia's development boards, and platforms are highly preferable. - Strong communication and documentation skills, adaptability, and the ability to work well in a team. - A relevant computer engineering, electronics, and communication qualification, or a related discipline. **About**Republic Polytechnic** - The first educational institution in Singapore to leverage the Problem-based Learning approach for all its diploma programmes, Republic Polytechnic (RP) has seven schools offering courses in Applied Science, Engineering, Business, Hospitality, Infocomm, Sports and Health, and Technology for Arts, Media and Design.
