About the Role
Here in Asia, Everest continues its rapid expansion in terms of geographic and product scale and scope. We are excited to offer this opportunity for an energetic and motivated underwriter to join our Casualty team and also help drive our entry into the Singapore mid-market and SME segments. As we look to execute on an exciting growth trajectory in Asia with Singapore as our base of operations, you will have matrix reporting to the CEO, Everest Insurance Singapore® responsible for the Singapore Retail Market. You will play an important role in helping to grow our retail market business and build our relationships with our clients and partners in the mind-market and SME segments.
As an Underwriter, a Typical Day Would Include
Responsible for underwriting of insurance products and progressing the portfolio of the Casualty business with focus on Work Injury Compensation and including Public and Products Liability, Comprehensive General Liability and other Casualty lines of business- Drive new business, review new risk submission and renewals within assigned authority limits- Maintain profitable renewal accounts as well as assist in the achievement of indigenous budget plans and business strategies to ensure profitable growth- Review Casualty policy wordings and endorsements- Ensure that systems are updated with the correct data (data accuracy), maintain rates adequacy, rates validation and uphold our Underwriting philosophy and standards.- Coordinate with the support team to ensure valid and timely response on production of policies, endorsements, certificates, renewal notices, invoices and other administrative requirements- Maintains close rapport and relationship with all internal and external stakeholders.- Assist in performing peer review and audits- Perform ad hoc projects and other related duties as assigned
Singapore Retail Market
While you work within the Casualty team, you will also be a member of our Singapore Retail Market team under CEO, Everest Insurance Singapore® and responsible for helping to grow the mid-market and SME segments. You will be supporting the team to engage the clients and partners in these segments and help build our distribution network, underwriting capability and retail presence in Singapore.
What you will need:
- Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, Business Degree, relevant Insurance qualifications or equivalent- Demonstrated underwriting ability and technical competence as evidenced by a minimum of 5 - 8 years’ underwriting experience or equivalent industry experience.- Strong network of Singapore producers- Experience and knowledge across Casualty Lines products- Analytical skills and ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within designated authority.- Effective communication & interpersonal skills to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders- Team player- To be self-motivating with a drive for self-improvement and progression
